Maryland Online Player Wins Huge Global Poker Sunday Scrimmage Event

Global Poker took a big swing for the fences this weekend, hosting an SC 500,000 guaranteed edition of their Sunday Scrimmage. This staple of the Global Poker tournament schedule has proven popular in recent weeks, easily surpassing its previous guarantee of SC 50,000 and then doing so again when the site pressed to SC 100,000, and later SC 150,000.

Last week, the SC 200,000 edition of the tournament produced a small overlay, which may have led to some concerns about the upcoming SC 500,000 guarantee. Those concerns were quickly put to rest as a massive 1,286 players turned out for the SC 540 buy-in tournament, creating an overall prize pool of SC 643,000! The tournament lasted a little over seven hours and paid out the final 198 players a minimum of SC 771.

The final table featured players from all over the United States, including California, Oregon, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In the end, Maryland’s ‘Arem’ overcame a nearly 3:1 heads-up chip deficit to beat Montana’s ‘Patricknmt’ for the title, and the first-place prize of SC107,381.

With that, the Global Poker Home Series is in the books, and the site now looks forward to the Rattlesnake Open. The upcoming tournament series is part of the Global Poker Championship Series, and runs from May 4-25.
