This year's Victorian Poker Championship is taking place at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, and the variety of preliminary tournaments has attracted big names and large fields.

A few of the events so far have included heads-up and limit hold'em, seven-card stud, short-handed no-limit hold'em, seven-card razz, pot-limit hold'em, and of course, no-limit hold'em.

It was no surprise that the biggest World Series of Poker main event winner to come out of "the land down under" would be playing in one of the largest tournament series taking place in his home country. Joe Hachem, along with fellow Australian player Michael "Sticky" Guttman, took to the felt today to compete in the $15,250 buy-in no-limit tournament.

Although it is the biggest-buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament of the series, today's event is still a preliminary to the $3,200 buy-in main event scheduled for Saturday.

Other big-name pros been spotted in Australia who will most likely be partaking in the main event are Tony Dunst, Mark Vos, and Shannon Elizabeth.
