Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event No. 6: $1 Million-Guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em

The sixth event in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) V, a $1 million guaranteed no-limit hold'em tournament with a $300 buy-in, continued the series' success when 4,372 entrants bought in. That attendance generated a prize pool of $1,311,600, which beat out the PokerStars Sunday Million to be the biggest tournament of the weekend. First place stood to earn $231,615. (The most the winner at PokerStars could earn was $188,177 if no deal was made at the final table.)

Akaginsf was the chip leader when it got down to the final table, with $2.6 million, but serefecheers was close behind with $2.3 million. Prominent poker pro J.C. "PrtyPsux" Alvarado also made it to the final table of the event. He initially sat in fifth place with $1.4 million in chips. Dijana was the shortstacked player at the table with just $704,000, but he still had some wiggle room, considering the big blind was at $40,000.

That wiggle room was enough to allow him to avoid being the first player eliminated. In the first elimination hand, BigBukkinChickn limped preflop when action folded to him in the small blind and king goostar checked his option. The flop came A 9 4 and BigBukkinChickn bet $50,000. King goostar called and the turn was the 10. BigBukkinChickn again bet $50,000 and king goostar raised to $200,000. BigBukkinChickn called and the river was the 2. BigBukkinChickn checked and king goostar pushed all in for $1.1 million. BigBukkinChickn took time before eventually calling and showing J 9 for just a pair of nines. King goostar held J 3 for just jack high and lost the hand. King goostar's bluff put him out in ninth place ($17,575).

PhilHPoker was out five minutes later when he open-pushed all in preflop for $570,000 and was called by 313OG, who showed pocket nines. PhilHPoker held A 4 and needed help. The board ran out J 8 8 Q K and PhilHPoker didn't get the help he needed to stay alive. He made $23,609 for eighth place.

BigBukkinChickn lasted just three more minutes before he went down to the felt. PrtyPsux raised to $130,000 preflop, with the big blind at $50,000, and BigBukkinChickn reraised all in for $749,000. PrtyPsux called and showed A 9 and was ahead of BigBukkinChickn's K 5. The flop came J 6 5, putting BigBukkinChickn in the lead with a pair of fives, but the turn was the A, giving PrtyPsux the lead again with aces. The river was another ace, the A, and PrtyPsux took down the pot with trip aces. BigBukkinChickn took home $30,167 for seventh place.

The rapid eliminations continued when dacove71 went out just a minute later. He open-pushed all in from early position preflop for $457,000 and akaginsf raised to $864,000, folding the remaining players. Akaginsf turned over pocket tens and was dominating dacove71's pocket treys. The board completely bricked out and akaginsf's tens held up to take down the pot. Dacove71 pocketed $40,135 for his sixth-place finish.

Things calmed down a bit and it was more than 15 minutes before the next elimination hand. Akaginsf raised to $180,000 preflop, with the big blind now at $60,000, and 313OG called. Dijana reraised all in for $513,000 and both akaginsf and 313OG called. Both active players checked it down to the river until the board read 10 3 2 6 9. Dijana turned over A K for ace high and 313OG revealed K 9 for a pair of nines. Akaginsf mucked and dijana was out in fifth place ($54,169).

PrtyPsux was out just a minute and two hands later when he raised all in from under the gun preflop for $634,000. Akaginsf called and showed K J and was slightly trailing against PrtyPsux's A 7. The board ran out Q 6 2 K J and akaginsf made two pair while PrtyPsux ended up with just ace high. PrtyPsux left the table in fourth place for $72,138.

It was now down to three players and 313OG held the chip lead with $6.5 million. Akaginsf was in second place with $3.7 million and serefecheers was in third with $2.9 million. Serefecheers lost more than half of his stack, most of which ended up with akaginsf, and was out less than 10 minutes later.

313OG raised to $250,000 preflop, with the big blind now at $80,000, and serefecheers pushed all in for $1.3 million. 313OG called and showed pocket tens for a healthy lead versus serefecheers' J 10. The board came A 3 2 4 6, improving neither player, and serefecheers was out in third place ($91,812).

313OG now had $7.7 million compared to akaginsf's $5.4 million. The heads-up match lasted 16 minutes before the final hand. By that time, 313OG had built his stack up to $12.1 million, which left akaginsf with just $999,000 when the big blind was $100,000.

In the final hand, akaginsf raised to $300,000 preflop and 313OG called. The flop came 10 5 3 and 313OG checked. Akaginsf pushed all in for $689,000 and 313OG quickly called and revealed pocket aces. Akaginsf was in bad shape with his pocket queens as the turn and river brought the 4 and 3, respectively. Akaginsf went out in second place ($140,210) and 313OG took down the tournament and earned the weekend's biggest prize, $231,615. 313OG also earned an exclusive gold FTOPS jersey avatar for his efforts.

The final results were:

1) 313OG - $231,615.44
2) akaginsf - $140,210.04
3) serefecheers - $91,812
4) J.C. "PrtyPsux" Alvarado - $72,138
5) dijana - $54,169.08
6) dacove71 - $40,134.96
7) BigBukkinChickn - $30,166.80
8) PhilHPoker - $23,608.80
9) king goostar - $17,575.44

PokerStars Sunday Million

PokerStars Sunday Million final table 2007-08-12
IG0tDibs makes two pair on the turn to beat out downosaur's worse two pair in the final hand of the tournament.

The PokerStars Sunday Million's turnout was still relatively low this weekend (compared to previous months) when it had just 6,543 entrants. Last weekend, the tournament had 6,567 entrants. The low attendance may have been due in part to the huge event at Full Tilt described above. Nevertheless, the tournament's prize pool still came to a huge $1,308,600.

Flyndra came to the final table as the chip leader with $11.3 million in chips. His next-closest competitor was downosaur with $10.2 million. Babar31 was the short stack at the table with just $2.2 million when the big blind was at $250,000. Babar31 was, in fact, the first player to be eliminated from the tournament, but he wasn't the only person eliminated in the hand.

Babar31 open-pushed all in for $1.6 million preflop from early position, with the big blind now at $300,000, and bobbybagpipe reraised all in himself for $4.8 million. Roberta114 then pushed all in as well for $8.8 million, folding the remaining players. Babar31 showed K 9, bobbybagpipe turned over pocket tens, and Roberta114 held pocket aces for a dominating lead over her opponents (she was a 72 percent favorite to win the hand versus bobbybagpipe's 18 percent and babar31's 10 percent). The board ran out 5 4 2 3 10 and Roberta114 completed a wheel to render bobbybagpipe's set of tens useless. Babar31 finished in ninth place ($8,113) and bobbybagpipe was out in eighth place ($13,086). Roberta114 pulled into the chip lead with the hand.

PokerSkill was the next player to be eliminated. IG0tDibs ($6.6 million) raised to $1.2 million preflop, with the big blind now at $400,000, and PokerSkill ($5 million) called in the big blind. The flop came A K 8 and both players checked. The turn was the 4 and PokerSkill bet $1.2 million. IG0tDibs raised to $4 million and PokerSkill called all in and showed A 7. IG0tDibs held A K for a dominating lead with two pair and PokerSkill was drawing dead. PokerSkill earned $21,592 for seventh place.

EirikS was the next to go just 10 minutes later. Downosaur ($9.2 million) raised to $7.1 million preflop, with the big blind at $500,000, and EirikS reraised all in for $8.3 million. Downosaur called and showed pocket nines and EirikS turned over AJ and needed to improve. The flop came 9 6 6, giving downosaur a full house, and EirikS had a just 1 percent chance to survive (he needed running aces or jacks for a better full house). The turn, however, was the 5 and he was drawing dead. EirikS got a $30,098 payday for sixth place.

Flyndra was the short stack at the table and was, correspondingly, the next player to go down to the felt. He open-pushed all in preflop from the small blind for $3.7 million and was called by Roberta114 in the big blind. Flyndra held K 5 and Roberta114 was leading with pocket fives (a 63 percent favorite, preflop). The board ran out A J 9 6 9, failing to significantly improve flyndra, and he was out in fifth place ($42,006).

The four remaining players then paused the tournament to discuss a deal, but the deal was quickly rejected when IG0tDibs (the chip leader at the time) stated that he wanted $125,000 ($5,000 more than the by-the-chips chop would guarantee him) and at least one player declined to give it to him. Play continued.

Roosterfish, the shortstacked player, was eliminated shortly thereafter. IG0tDibs ($25.9 million) limped preflop, when the big blind was at $600,000, and downosaur ($15.9 million) raised to $2.4 million. Roosterfish ($10.2 million) called and IG0tDibs folded. The flop came Q Q 9 and downosaur bet $3.6 million. Roosterfish raised all in for $7.7 million and downosaur called and showed pocket aces. Roosterfish turned over J 10 for an open-end straight draw and needed to improve. The turn was the 4 and the river the 6 and roosterfish was eliminated in fourth place, for $42,006.

It was now down to three-way play and downosaur had a slight chip lead with $26.8 million versus IG0tDibs' second-place stack of $25.2 million. Roberta114 was in third place with $13.4 million. Downosaur built his stack up to $32.1 million within just two minutes, but a big hand would change the chip lead once again.

IG0tDibs ($19.2 million) limped preflop and downosaur raised to $1.8 million. IG0tDibs called and the flop came 9 6 5. IG0tDibs checked and downosaur bet $1.8 million. IG0tDibs called to see the turn of 7. IG0tDibs again checked and downosaur bet $5.6 million. IG0tDibs called and the river brought the 2. IG0tDibs checked once again and downosaur bet $10.6 million, enough to put IG0tDibs all in. IG0tDibs called all in and showed 10 9 for a flush. Downosaur held Q 8 for a turned straight and lost a huge chunk of his stack. IG0tDibs had $38.4 million after the hand and downosaur was left with just $12.9 million in third place.

Downosaur then regained ground when he pushed all in preflop with pocket nines and IG0tDibs called with pocket treys. The nines held up and the two were virtually tied once again.

Meanwhile, Roberta114's stack got smaller and smaller until she was left with just $8.7 million. In her final hand, IG0tDibs and downosaur both limped preflop and Roberta114 checked her option. The flop came Q J 5 and both downosaur and Roberta114 checked. IG0tDibs bet $1.6 million and downosaur folded. Roberta114 check-raised all in for $7.8 million and IG0tDibs called and showed A Q for top pair. Roberta114 held just Q 2 and needed help. The turn was the 10 and the river the Q and IG0tDibs' kicker played to eliminate Roberta114 in third place.

It was now heads up and IG0tDibs had the lead with $34.8 million compared to downosaur's $30.7 million. Despite the closeness of the stacks and the relatively small blinds ($800,000 for the big blind), the tournament lasted just one more minute.

In the final hand, downosaur raised to $2 million preflop and IG0tDibs called. The flop came A J 6 and IG0tDibs checked. Downosaur bet $2.8 million and IG0tDibs called. The turn was the 8 and IG0tDibs again checked. Downosaur bet $9.8 million and IG0tDibs check-raised to $29.6 million, enough to put downosaur all in. Downosaur called all in and showed A 6 for a flopped two pair. IG0tDibs, however, revealed A 8 for a better two pair on the turn. The river was the 5 and downosaur was out in second place ($98,014). IG0tDibs collected the entire $188,177 first-place prize for winning the tournament.

The final results were:

1) IG0tDibs - $188,176.68
2) downosaur - $98,014.14
3) Roberta114 - $70,533.54
4) roosterfish - $54,961.20
5) flyndra - $42,006.06
6) EirikS - $30,097.80
7) PokerSkill - $21,591.90
8) bobbybagpipe - $13,086
9) babar31 - $8,113.32

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament found 944 entrants, which was down from the record-breaking 1,048 entrants of two weeks ago (the tournament did not take place last weekend, as it was replaced by a massive qualifier to the Aruba Classic). UltimateBet came out of pocket for $11,200 to match the guarantee for the tournament.

Prominent poker pro James "KrazyKanuck" Worth was still in the running when the tournament got down to the final table. He had $314,000, which put him in third place, behind 135565 with $486,000 and jw1700 with $430,000.

KrazyKanuck eventually went out in sixth place when he got severely shortstacked and pushed all in preflop. He went up against bearbeer, who showed pocket queens, and he was well behind with 10 9. The flop came K 9 2, giving him some hope with a pair of nines. The turn and river, however, were the 8 and the Q, leaving bearbeer with a set of queens to take down the pot and eliminate KrazyKanuck in sixth ($8,500).

When it got down to fourhanded play, both jw1700 and bearbeer sat out of the tournament for an unknown reason (likely connection problems). Bearbeer was in the lead and didn't have much cause to worry, but jw1700 was shortstacked and was eventually anted out of the tournament in fourth place ($13,100). Bearbeer sat back in the very next hand after jw1700's elimination. It was now down to threehanded play, and bearbeer held the chip lead at $958,000 versus notable Internet player Blake "Balla-B13" Cahail in second with $812,000 and Scrooge Mcduc in third with $590,000. Scrooge Mcduc went out 10 minutes later.

Scrooge Mcduc ($454,000) raised to $72,000 preflop, with the big blind at $24,000, and bearbeer reraised to $169,000 from the big blind. Scrooge Mcduc pushed all in and bearbeer called and showed pocket aces. Scrooge Mcduc was well behind with pocket eights as the board ran out Q J 4 7 6. Scrooge Mcduc was eliminated in third place, earning $18,000.

Bearbeer now had $1.6 million versus Balla-B13's $711,000 as heads-up play began. The match lasted almost 25 minutes, over which time Balla-B13 pulled into the lead. In what would be the final hand, bearbeer ($805,000) raised to $100,000 preflop, with the big blind at $40,000, and Balla-B13 ($1.5 million) reraised to $340,000. Bearbeer pushed all in over the top and Balla-B13 called and showed pocket queens. Bearbeer was in bad shape with pocket sevens as the board ran out A 4 3 2 J. Balla-B13 raked in the pot to eliminate bearbeer in second place ($26,500). Balla-B13 pocketed $45,000 for his first-place finish in the tournament.

The final results were:

1) Blake "Balla-B13" Cahail - $45,000
2) bearbeer - $26,500
3) Scrooge Mcduc - $18,000
4) jw1700 - $13,100
5) 135565 - $10,500
6) James "KrazyKanuck" Worth - $8,500
7) inissint - $6,500
8) c0wgir1 - $4,500
9) imustcall - $3,400
10) flopoholic - $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament had just 865 entrants last night, down from last weekend's 926. The tournament required an overlay of $13,500 to match the posted guarantee.

When it got down to the final table, tweeter had the chip lead with $565,000 in chips compared to Novice in second place with $314,000. Play was fast and furious and there were only five players remaining within seven minutes of the final table's formation.

Tweeter got involved in a huge pot just eight minutes in that took a huge chunk out of his stack. Pugmeister ($395,000) raised to $109,000 preflop, with the big blind at $20,000, and tweeter reraised all in from the big blind for $553,000. Pugmeister ran down his clock before finally calling and showing A-10 suited. Tweeter held pocket kings for a good lead. Tweeter's pocket kings, acting like the ace-magnets that they are, were cracked when an ace came on the flop. Tweeter was down to $157,000 and pugmeister now had a formidable stack of $810,000, which put him in the chip lead.

Tweeter was out soon thereafter when his K-Q went up against chiefthirsty's A-8 and both players failed to improve. Tweeter was eliminated in fourth place ($6,500).

When it got down to heads-up play, pugmeister was the chip leader (barely) with $1.099 million versus Novice's $1.062 million. The final table had lasted just 28 minutes up to this point. The two players traded the chip lead between each other quite a bit in a heads-up match that lasted 37 minutes. Novice pulled ahead of pugmeister for the last time and managed to get his stack up to $1.7 million versus pugmeister's $429,000 before the final hand.

Novice raised to $190,000 preflop, with the big blind at $60,000, and pugmeister reraised all in from the big blind for $429,000. Novice called fairly quickly and showed A 3. Pugmeister held Q 5 and was trailing. The board ran out A 10 9 J 6 and Novice made an unnecessary pair of aces to take down the final pot of the tournament. Pugmeister made $14,000 for second place and Novice proved that his screen name meant next to nothing when he snagged the $25,000 top prize.

The final results were:

1) Novice - $25,000
2) pugmeister - $14,000
3) chiefthirsty - $9,000
4) tweeter - $6,500
5) Manube - $5,400
6) iksam - $4,400
7) Poker366 - $3,400
8) 011jp - $2,400
9) SpeedBird - $1,550
