The COVID-19 outbreak has had a major impact on so many aspects of life around the globe, with many industries hit hard by the pandemic. One sector of the economy that has been particularly hard hit has been gaming and hospitality, with millions out of work as shutdowns for safety concerns have limited employment opportunities. While many gaming properties have had to decrease their workforce in recent months, a casino resort in Upstate New York has announced an initiative to entice new employees.
Turning Stone Resort is offering to pay people to move to Upstate New York, give them a job, provide housing assistance, daycare, and the resources to help family members traveling with them find employment.
“At a time when others in our industry are, unfortunately, being forced to lay off talented employees, we are planning for our recovery by investing in our workforce. Our ‘New Year, New Career’ is designed to fill more than 250 positions as we plan for our recovery and growth in the year ahead. We’re targeting areas that have been hit the hardest by the pandemic, including Las Vegas and Orlando where tens of thousands of Disney World employees have been laid off,” says Kelly Abdo, Director of Public Relations for Oneida Nation Enterprises which owns and operates Turning Stone Resort.
The resort attracts more than 4 million guests per year, and has been deemed the no. 1
Casino Resort in New York. The casino features 125,000 square feet of gaming floor space, while the resort’s four hotels sport more than 700 total rooms.
