The Florida man who streaked across the field during last Sunday’s Super Bowl reportedly made more than $300,000 on the stunt after it was revealed in an interview with a local radio station that he and his friends placed bets on the outcome on Bovada, an online casino available to most U.S. customers.
According to a report from the New York Post, however, he may not be getting his money.
In the radio interview with Wild 94.1, Yuri Andrade, a 31-year-old Boca Raton native, said that he and his friends bet $50,000 at +750 odds on “Yes” that someone would streak during the Super Bowl.
But a spokesman from Bovada told the Post that the company was aware of the irregularities in the market and “needed to complete our investigation to identify all accounts associated with the irregularity before announcing.”
The spokesman also said that all the “NO” wagers would be refunded and legitimate “YES” bets would be paid to into the accounts.
“Our players have always trusted us to ensure the integrity of all props offered in our sportsbook,” read a statement from the company. “We will continue to make sure that any publicity stunts or ill-intended behavior cannot adversely affect the outcome of a player’s wager.”
In the radio interview, Andrade said that his friends hatched a plan to have use two people in order to ensure that one got onto the field. The first streaker acted as somewhat of a decoy to attract security to him, allowing Andrade to have a clean shot at the field.
Andrade was arrested on misdemeanor trespassing charges and it reportedly cost $1,000 to bail him out of jail.
