U.S. "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth enters as chip leader, closely followed by Germany's Eddy Scharf. Finland's Juha Helppi and England's Ian Frazer automatically qualified for the final table through their positions in the final league table. There were two playoff heads-up matches for the last two spots on the final table, with Liz Lieu beating Kenna James and Vicky Coren seeing off Andrew Black.

The series started its run on Tuesday, May 22, and featured 12 of the world's best players competing in a unique league format for a $500,000 prize pool. Each player bought in for $20,000, with PartyPoker.com adding $260,000.
