WATCH: R&B Singer Hits Penny Slot Jackpot At Southern California Casino

An R&B singer hit a slot machine jackpot at a California casino, but unlike most celebrity gamblers, he hit it on a low-stakes penny slot machine.

Ray J, a recording artist with four studio albums dating back to 1997, was at San Manuel Casino in Southern California this week and played the popular “Buffalo” slot machine.

According to a report from TMZ, he put $100 into the machine and drilled the jackpot for $17,000. The $17,000 won’t affect his life much as his net worth is reportedly upwards of $14 million.

Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., has several ties to the music industry, aside from his own talent. His sister is Brandy, who had a very successful pop music career in the 90’s, and is a cousin of rapper Snoop Dogg.

In 2010, Ray J and his sister were the stars of their own reality TV show on VH1 called Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business. The show documented the lives of both siblings as they managed their music careers and transitioned into entrepreneurs.

Norwood has some loose ties to the poker world as he dated Kim Kardashian in the early 2000’s. Kardashian was recently seen getting poker lessons from 15-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, and a poker game was featured on a few episodes of her own reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

In a video that documented the jackpot, the 40-year-old said that he doesn’t play craps or table games anymore because he is “old.” He also apologized to his wife for heading to the casino before coming home, but he did it because his “dog was sick.”
