The newest casino on the Las Vegas Strip will be implementing cashless betting when it has its soft opening next week.
According to the local Fox affiliate, Resorts World Las Vegas will allow its patrons to deposit cash onto a digital wallet that can be automatically debited as bets are placed at both slot machines and table games.
The Genting-owned property “will be the first Las Vegas casino where consumers can utilize a digital login and cashless wagering experience,” the company said in a press release.
It will function similar to a prepaid debit card that can be linked to a guest’s players card. Aside from depositing cash at a kiosk, accounts can be funded through a checking account, credit or debit card, or PayPal account.
Resorts World is scheduled to have a soft opening on June 24 before its grand opening to the public on July 4. It is the first ground-up resort built on the Las Vegas Strip since the Cosmopolitan in 2010.
The casino is clearly trying to be ahead of other Las Vegas gaming operators on the technological front. Last month, it announced a partnership with the cryptocurrency exchange and custodial service Gemini to allow for cryptocurrency payments at the resort.
It will become the first casino on the Las Vegas Strip to accept digital currencies as a form of payment, but regulators have not approved them for gaming transactions.
