Tyler Denson Wins 2021 World Series of Poker Online $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack

Tyler Denson is the latest player to secure a World Series of Poker gold bracelet. The Florida resident overcame a field of 416 entries to win the 2021 WSOP Online $2,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em deepstack event. For the win, Denson took home his first bracelet and the top prize of $175,700.

The top 72 finishers made the money in this event, which was the highest buy-in tournament yet during the 2021 WSOPO. Among those who cashed were Landon ‘ActionDealer’ Tice (71st – $2,693), Yong ‘luckySpewy1’ Kwon (62nd – $2,847), Jared ‘DarrensRabbi’ Jaffee (60th – $2,847), Anthony ‘heheh’ Zinno (46th – $3,155), Calvin ‘projector52’ Anderson (42nd – $3,540), Jeff ‘NedrudRelyt’ Madsen (37th – $3,540), Kathy ‘Luckygal’ Liebert (27th – $4,694), Anthony ‘nowb3athat’ Spinella (23rd – $4,694), Galen ‘turkmalloy’ Hall (19th – $4,694), and Brian ‘JackBogle’ Altman (17th – $5,695).

Denson held the chip lead when the final table of nine was set, with Michael ‘helionic’ Dyer, who finished third in the 2018 WSOP main event for $3,750,000, sitting on less than a big blind. Dyer was left soo short after losing the three-way all-in that set the final table, with Denson’s pocket tens rivering a set to crack the pocket aces of ‘Rocroe’ and outrun the AQ of Dyer. Dyer was all-in on the next hand with 63. He flopped a low pair and straight draw against the pocket kings of David ‘ImDeboGodz’ Dibernardi, but failed to improve any further and was knocked out in ninth place ($11,159).

Denson continued to accumulate by eliminating Kenneth ‘ACE710’ Neri in eighth place ($14,545). Denson’s AK held up against the J10 of Neri to extend his lead and narrow the field to seven.

Dibernardi’s run in this event came to an end when his A-K failed to stand up against the AQ of Denson, who spiked a queen on the turn to surge into the lead and held from there. Dibernardi cashed for $19,393 as the seventh-place finisher. Denson was also involved in the next big clash. He shoved from the button holding 88 and received a call from Jeffrey ‘PlusEv905’ Schwartz’s AJ. Denton made eights full on the turn to send Schwartz packing with $26,320.

Al ‘bigal16’ Riccobono was the next to fall. His A10 ran into the AK of Steven ‘Girlcanplay2’ Kelly, who flopped a king to extend his advantage. No help came on the turn or river and Riccobono settled for fifth place ($36,479).

Demetrios ‘GOGGINS’ Petrou got the last of his chips in ahead, with his A-J dominating the A-8 of Denson. Both players picked up a pair of aces on the turn, but Petrou remained ahead. That is, until the 8 on the river gave Denson aces and eights to take down the pot and eliminate Petrou in fourth place ($51,409).

Ben Yu was the most accomplished tournament player among the final three in this event. Yu had more than $7.2 million in prior earnings to his name, including three wins in WSOP bracelet events. He came ever-so-close to his fourth bracelet in this event, but ultimately fell just short when his pocket tens in the big blind were cracked by the J-4 offsuit that Denton shoved from the small blind. Denton flopped a jack and held from there to send Yu to the virtual rail in third place ($73,958).

With that Denson took just more than a 2:1 chip lead into heads-up play with Kelly. he was able to extend that advantage event further by the time the final hand was dealt. Denson picked up J10 on the button and shoved, putting Kelly’s last 16 big blinds at risk were he to call. He elected to look Denson up with his KQ and the board ran out 10765J to secure the pot and the title for Denson. Kelly earned $108,282 as the runner-up finisher.
