WCP’s College Championship main event is open to students aged 18 and over with a valid student ID who are currently enrolled at colleges, universities, and vocational schools worldwide. Players from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey cannot participate in the WCP events at PokerStars.net, per local regulations.

In addition to the bragging rights that come along with securing the WCP title, a host of prizes will also be up for grabs, including a European Poker Tour (EPT) package (~€8,000, value), an engraved PokerStars trophy for the winner, and custom gaming chairs for the six finalists.

Matt BerkeySolve For Why Academy, a comprehensive poker training company founded by high-stakes star Matt Berkey, will award the runner-up a three-day trip to Las Vegas, an academy seat, and round-trip airfare.

“I began playing poker in high school for fun, mostly penny stakes and stud variations. During college, I really began to take it seriously,” commented Berkey. “The Moneymaker boom had taken the world by storm and being a baseball player, I always had a game in the back of the bus. It wasn’t long before those games graduated to higher stakes at the casino and eventually a career in this industry. Events like the WCP Championship didn’t exist back then, but I would have given anything to learn and compete with my peers during that time.”

Pot-limit Omaha training site PLO Quick Pro is awarding vacation packages for the top three finishers, as well as special hotel packages for the six finalists. Additional prizes include a private lesson with top players such as World Poker Tour Player of the Year Jonathan Little and poker coach Alex Fitzgerald, who has accrued more than $3.5M in career tournament earnings. Fitzgerald has worked with thousands of players and has published hundreds of training videos. “Some of the wildest games I ever played were in college. It’s great World College Poker is organizing a championship event for college players. They’re taking these games to the next level and offering epic prizes. I love it!” Fitzgerald commented.

Two-time U.S. Women’s Chess Champion PokerStars ambassador Jennifer Shahade will offer a lesson in either poker or chess to the last female player standing in the event.

Patrik Antonius, high stakes superstar and First Land of Poker app (FLOP) co-founder will also battle the overall winner in a heads-up challenge.

“I wish world college poker was around when I was in school,” said Antonius.

“Breinfuel is the perfect partner for our global college poker championship,” said WCP co-founder, Craig Tapscott. “Students can use it to increase focus and mental acuity, whether it be for exams, sports, or online social games like poker. We are thrilled to be working with Breinfuel.”
