Jake Schindler Takes Down $25,000 Buy-In PokerGO Cup Event For $324,000Schindler Tops Stacked Final Table For Second Win Of The Year |

The PokerGO Cup continued Sunday with the first of two $25,000 buy-in events, and like most other high roller tournaments at the Aria, the final table was stacked with top-ranked pros.
Despite the intimidating lineup, however, Jake Schindler had no problem dispatching them in quick succession and taking home the $324,000 first-place prize.
“I pretty much just card racked,” Schindler admitted after the win. “I didn’t have many decisions. Everything went well.”
A total of 36 entries were made in the event, creating a total prize pool of $900,000. The final group was comprised of some of the best players in the game today including Daniel Negreanu, Sean Winter, Stephen Chidwick, David Coleman, and David Peters. After Sergi Reixach was eliminated on the bubble, the remaining six players were all in the money and guaranteed at least $45,000.
Negreanu was the first to fall, running Q-7 suited into a dominating K-Q suited of Schindler. He picked up $45,000 for the mincash.
Winter gave most of his chips to Peters, taking $75,000 for his fifth-place finish. With nine final tables and two wins this year, Winter now sits in 18th-place in the Card Player Player of the Year race.
Chidwick busted in fourth place, banking $99,000 when his pocket sevens lost a race to Schindler’s Q-J.
Coleman was making his third final table appearance of the series, but couldn’t climb higher than third place. He called off his stack with A-3 but couldn’t hold against Schindler’s 9-6, collecting a $144,000 consolation prize for his deep run.
That just left Peters, the reigning back-to-back U.S. Poker Open champion, who made his final stand with pocket sixes. Schindler looked him up with Q-J and flopped a queen to secure the title. Peters now has five final tables on the year, and sits in 37th place in the POY standings.
This was Schindler’s second win, at his eighth POY-qualified final table of the year. He also won a $25,000 high roller event at Aria back in May for $310,500. He’s now in 48th place in the POY race.
With $27 million in career tournament earnings, Schindler is 17th on poker’s all-time money list.
