Brad ‘1badcajun’ Zusman emerged victorious from a field of 917 entries in the 2021 World Series of Poker Online $500 buy-in ‘Summer Saver’ no-limit hold’em event, earning his first gold bracelet and $79,683 for the win.

This was Zusman’s first recorded tournament victory, and by far the largest score of his career. His previous top payday came when he made the money in the 2019 WSOP $10,000 main event, earning $17,135 as the 941st-place finisher.

Among the big names to cash in this event were bracelet winner Kathy ‘Luckygal’ Liebert (132nd – $701), four-time bracelet winner Jeff ‘NedrudRelyt’ Madsen (82nd – $867), bracelet winner Jim ‘BOCARATONE’ Collopy (37th – $1,568), bracelet winner and 2010 WSOP main event third-place finisher Joseph ‘biueberry’ Cheong (33rd – $1,857), and recent bracelet winner Sang ‘youngkoi’ Lee (13th – $3,466).

The final table began with Josh ‘YoelRomero’ King in the chip lead and Zusman in second place. David ‘dave419’ Nodes was eliminated thanks to a preflop cooler, with his pocket queens running into the pocket kings of bracelet winner Jason ‘TheBigGift’ Gooch. Nodes was unable to come from behind and hit the rail in ninth place ($5,653). Jeremy ‘g00sebumps’ Menard (8th – $7,386) and ‘KerriP’ (7th – $9,780) followed in short order.

Gooch earned another knockout when his two pair beat out the flopped top pair of Orson ‘borgatcha’ Young (6th – $13,122). Gooch lost a preflop all-in against Zusman, who was the short stack. As a result, he fell to the bottom of the leaderboard. He soon found himself as the one at risk, with his K-J shove from the cutoff receiving a call from Mark ‘victb’ Ioli’s A-K in the big blind. Ioli flopped trip aces and Gooch was drawing dead by the turn. He was awarded $17,909 for his fifth-palce showing.

Ioli earned another knockout when his pocket nines held up against the KClub Suit6Club Suit of Jeff ‘bortzork’ Miller (4th – $24,759). He continued to surge, besting Josh ‘YoelRomero’ King’s QDiamond Suit10Diamond Suit with AClub SuitQHeart Suit to take a slight lead into heads-up play with Zusman.

Zusman was able to battle his way into the lead before the final hand of the event was dealt. Ioli raised to 480,000 from the small blind with QSpade SuitQHeart Suit and Zusman three-bet to 1,245,000 with AHeart SuitJHeart Suit. Ioli four-bet shoved for 7,944,932 with his large pocket pair and Zusman called. The board ran out ASpade Suit5Diamond Suit3Heart Suit3Diamond Suit2Club Suit and Zusman’s pair of aces was enough to take down the pot and the title. Ioli earned $49,270 as the runner-up finisher.
