Andrew Porter Wins 2021 World Series of Poker Online $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Pennsylvania Championship

The first-ever champion of the World Series of Poker Online $1,000 buy-in Pennsylvania Championship no-limit hold’em event has been decided. Philadelphia, PA resident Andrew ‘LoveToLose’ Porter emerged victorious from a field of 311 total entries, securing $65,525 and his first gold bracelet for the win. This was Porter’s largest recorded tournament score, topping the $15,000 he earned as the third-place finisher in a $560 buy-in at Parx Casino’s Big Stax XXVIII series.

The top 63 finishers made the money in this event, with plenty of big names among those who cashed. Notables who secured a payday but fell short of the final table included the likes three-time WSOP bracelet winner, 2015 main event champion and PA native Joe ‘ChilledChaos’ McKeehen (23rd – $1,791), bracelet winner Michael ‘lllllllll’ Wang (13th – $2,603), and Zach ‘CaptainLevi’ Gruneberg (10th – $3,247).

Derek ‘4evergr8’ Duckett was the first to fall at the final table, with his pocket fives losing a race to the K-J of Levi ‘AmosSlade’ Espeseth. Duckett took home $4,143 as the ninth-place finisher. Drew ‘MoveBlanket’ Gonzalez followed in his virtual footsteps just minutes later when his A7 ran into the QQ of Porter, who took nearly a 2:1 lead on the next largest stack after his pocket queens held up. Gonzalez placed eighth, earning $5,374 for his deep run.

Joshua ‘ArmyWife1972’ Rivera didn’t fare as well with his pocket queens. He got all-in against the pocket aces of ‘nevermuk24’ and finished seventh ($7,165) when he was unable to come from behind. Another preflop cooler took place just a handful of minutes later, when recent WSOP Online bracelet winner Michael ‘TonyBandanas’ Lavin’s pocket tens ran into the pocket aces of Espeseth. The aces held up and Lavin hit the rail with $9,769 for his second final-table finish in a four-day span.

Pennsylvania native Matt ‘berkey11’ Berkey lost a preflop race for most of his stack before getting his last chips in with K8. He was dominated by the A8 of Porter, who called from the big blind. The board ran out QJ1063 and Porter’s ace-high played to knock Berkey out in fifth place ($13,547). The score increased his career earnings to $4,187,321.

The A9 of ‘nevermuk24’ bested the K7 of Ryan ‘TheDuce’ McCarroll to see him eliminated in fourth place ($19,145). As a result, ‘nevermuk24’ moved into a virtual tie for the lead with Porter heading into three-handed action.

Espeseth shoved with an unimproved QJ after missing a flopped open-ended straight draw. Porter had top pair of kings and made the call to knock Espeseth out in third place ($27,654), taking approximately a 3:2 chip advantage into heads-up play with ‘nevermuk24’.

The two traded the lead a few times, but Porter was on top when the final hand was dealt. Porter limped in from the button with JJ. ‘nevermuk24’ moved all-in for 1,397,278 from the big blind with A2. Porter called and the Q9236 runout secured the pot and the title for Porter. ‘nevermuk24’ cashed for $40,669 as the second-place finisher.
