Nevada regulators have lodged a complaint against a Las Vegas-based casino company for taking wagers on sporting events that were already finished.

According to a report from a local NBC affiliate, the Nevada Gaming Control claims that Station Casinos accepted 348 bets on completed events from May 2018 through May 2021. According to the complaint, the company admitted it was true and attributed the mistake to an error in the software that was accepting mobile and in-game bets called Stadium Live.

“A Stations employee confirmed that these computer errors, essentially a server failure, were 100 percent avoidable,” read the complaint.

While the company initially accepted the bets, it always refunded the money and voided the tickets. The NGCB is urging the Nevada Gaming Commission to take action because the mistakes reflect poorly on the Silver State’s gambling market. Regulators state that Station Casinos should have a better process in place to ensure that these mistakes don’t happen.

Station’s blunder will almost certainly end in a fine.

Station Casinos caters mostly to Las Vegas locals as the company doesn’t have a Las Vegas Strip casino and most of its properties are in the suburbs. Its most well-known casino is The Palms, located just off the strip and across from the Rio. The company also owns Red Rock Casino and Green Valley Ranch, two of the more popular suburban properties in Henderson and Summerlin.

Three of its casinos, Fiesta Henderson, Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho have still not reopened from the pandemic-induced closure in March 2020.
