Romain Lewis Wins 2021 World Series of Poker $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty

One of the biggest, and certainly one of the quickest bracelets of the series was awarded Tuesday afternoon at the 2021 World Series of Poker in the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty event.

The tournament, which featured $3,000 bounties on every player, drew a field of 307 entries and took just two days of speedy play to determine a winner.

Despite the structure, the cream still managed to rise to the top, with a stacked final table full of top players, including German high roller Rainer Kempe (9th), WPT champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko (7th), WSOP main event runner-up Dario Sammartino (6th), and two-time European Poker Tour runner-up Uri Reichenstein (4th).

Stephen Chidwick went straight from his 89th-place finish in the WSOP main event to the turbo event and responded with a third-place finish worth $200,598. He also reportedly racked up about 15 bounties in the tournament before being eliminated. The 32-year-old UK high roller now has $37.6 million in career tournament earnings.

Aditya Agarwal came into the final table with the chip lead and was looking to win India’s seventh bracelet at the series. Unfortunately for the online poker pro, he had to settle for the $286,705 consolation prize as the runner-up.

In the end, the title went to France’s Romain Lewis, who picked up his first career bracelet and the $463,885 top prize.

The key hand of the tournament was a race during heads-up play, where Lewis called off his stack with pocket fives and held against Agarwal’s 76 to double into a 6:1 lead. It was only a few hands later that Lewis finished Agarwal off.

The win was especially sweet for Lewis, who had two runner-up finishes and two third-place showings at the series before breaking through.

“All the different deep runs I made a couple years ago, I was so happy with those results. But when I looked back a few years later, I was like, ‘Wow, bracelets are not that easy. These spots don’t come that often.’ It’s been a ten-year dream and I put a five or six-year objective to win one. For it to happen now… it makes me ecstatic. It really does," Lewis told PokerNews reporters after securing the victory.

This was the second-largest score of Lewis’ career, just shy of the $479,360 he banked for third-place in the 2019 MILLIONS Rozvadov Europe main event. He now has $2.8 million in career live tournament earnings.
