Casinos in the state of Ohio are continuing their winning streak.
According to reports, the Buckeye State’s Las Vegas-style casinos and the racinos won $171.2 million from gamblers during January, a new all-time high for January. Ohio’s casino industry began a decade ago.
Per the state figures made public on Monday, the revenue haul bests the previous January record of $167.5 million in 2020. Gaming win fell to $153 million in January 2021 due to COVID-19.
The January performance continues an upswing for the facilities. In January, the state announced that the casinos and racinos won a combined $2.3 billion in 2021, a new calendar year record for the industry in the state.
The casinos will soon get a boost from state-sanctioned sports betting, with policymakers in Columbus, Ohio legalizing the activity late last year.
Sportsbooks could come to Ohio casinos later this year.
