Nevada casinos continue to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to figures released in late February by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Silver State casinos reported $1,078,761,266 in gambling winnings in January.

The figure was a 41.58% increase compared to January 2021, when licensees reported a gaming win of $761,919,236.

For the fiscal year (July 1, 2021 through January 31, 2022), gaming win has increased 57.76%, the Nevada Gaming Control Board said.

The Las Vegas Strip drove the gains for the statewide gambling industry. Casinos on the iconic gambling corridor reported $567,213,517 in winnings in January, up 76.41% compared to $321,528,266 in January 2021.

Clark County as a whole had $928,715,685 in total winnings during January 2022, up 50.43% compared to January 2021.

Nevada casinos won $13,429,949,000 in calendar year 2021, up 70.59% compared to 2020 when casinos were forced to close during the pandemic.

Gambling win this spring could grow further thanks to a recent removal of mask requirements.

The performance for Nevada was part of a record-breaking 2021 for the nationwide casino industry. According to the American Gaming Association, 2021 set a new record as the highest-grossing year ever for the U.S. commercial gaming industry, reaching $53 billion in revenue.

The total bested 2019’s previous industry record of $43.65 billion.
