European Poker Tour Prague: Mulder, Nemeth and Selouan Win €25,000 Buy-In High Roller Titles

The high-stakes live tournament circuit has descended on the Czech Republic for the 2022 European Poker Tour Prague festival running from Mar. 5-16. A trio of high-stakes single-day no-limit hold’em tournaments have wrapped up in recent days, with nearly $2.5 million USD in prize money awarded between them. Below is a look at the results of those high roller events.

€25,000 Single-Day High Roller I

The first of these fast-paced events kicked off on Mar. 8. The EPT Prague €25,000 Single-Day High Roller I saw a total of 35 entries made, creating a prize pool of €840,350 ($915,982 USD). That money was ultimately awarded to the top six finishers, with Thomas Muehloecker having the unfortunate distinction of being eliminated on the $64,125 USD money bubble.

After a long day of high-stakes action, Dutch poker pro Teun Mulder emerged victorious with the title and the top payout of $273,512 USD. This was the largest live score of the online tournament star’s career. His largest recorded payday in an event with full real-name results came when he finished as the runner-up in the 2020 World Poker Tour World Online Championships main event for just shy of $1.4 million.

Mulder secured the title after striking a heads-up deal with Juan Pardo (2nd – $253,176 USD). Mulder earned 336 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his second POY-qualified final-table finish of 2022.

Nick Petrangelo finished sixth in this event for $64,125 USD and his sixth final-table finish of the year. Just a few days later he placed third in the €50,000 buy-in high roller for another $359,542 USD. His nearly $2.6 million in year-to-date POY earnings is the most of any player on the circuit. With 1,728 total POY points, he now sits in sixth place in the 2022 race, which is sponsored by Global Poker.

€25,000 Single-Day High Roller II

The second single-day high roller on the schedule drew a somewhat smaller turnout, with 21 total entries building a prize pool equivalent to $549,589. As a result, only the top four finishers made the money. In the end, online high-stakes tournament star Andras Nemeth cake away with the title and the top prize of $230,818 USD. This was the fifth-largest score of his live tournament career, bringing his earnings to more than $4.5 million. The Hungarian reportedly has millions more in online cashes to his name.

Two-time bracelet winner Yuri Dzivielevski, who had finished sixth in the €50,000 buy-in event earlier the same day (Mar. 11), managed to survive to fourth place in this event as well, earning $65,956 USD as the first player eliminated after the bubble burst. Dzivielevski lost a classic race, with his A-10 failing to beat out the pocket sixes of Nemeth.

Nemeth’s A-J then held against the A-5 suited of Sirzat Hissou ($98,928 USD) to give him a sizable lead heading into heads-up play with Brazilian tournament professional Pablo Brito Silva. Another coinflip win for Nemeth saw him close out the tournament, with his A-7 turning a higher pair to beat the pocket fives of Silva ($153,886 USD).

€25,000 Single-Day High Roller IV

There were supposed to be four single-day high roller events held during this series, but the third was reportedly delayed due to many of the high-stakes regulars still being in contention in the EPT Prague main event which is still ongoing.

The €25,000 Single-Day High Roller IV attracted 39 total entries, building the largest prize pool of the three high rollers at this price point: $1,027,002 USD. The lion’s share of that money was ultimately awarded to Brazil’s Rodrigo Selouan, who earned $349,178 USD for the largest live cash of his career.

The top six finishers cashed, with 2019 Card Player Player of the Year award winner Stephen Chidwick eliminated on the bubble. Selouan scored his first knockout inside the money when his A-6 won a preflop race against the pocket deuces of recent €50,000 buy-in event winner Timothy Adams. The Canadian earned $92,436 USD as the fifth-place finisher in this event.

Orpen Kisacikoglu, who finished as the runner-up to Adams in the super high roller, was the next to go. He ran pocket fives into the pocket nines of €10,000 buy-in high roller event winner Sam Grafton, earning $118,100 USD for his fourth-place showing.

Sirzat Hissour earned his second third-place showing in a three-day span, adding another $154,052 USD this time around. Selouan made a flush to eliminate him and take roughly a 3:1 lead into heads-up play against Grafton.

The tournament came to an end when Selouan’s AJ won a race against the 88 of Grafton. Selouan hit an ace on the turn to take the lead, and dodged an eight on the river to eliminate Grafton as the runner-up ($241,344 USD).
