Former Online Poker Standout Wade Woelfel Accused Of Third-Degree Murder

A Minnesota poker player is facing some tough times ahead.

According to a report from CBS Minnesota, former poker pro Wade Woelfel has been accused of third-degree murder in a case involving a drug overdose.

Woelfel, 38, allegedly sold another man drugs that result in an accidental overdose. The death happened Oct. 8, 2021, authorities said.

The deceased was 44-year-old Bryan Marconcini. Per the report, an autopsy allegedly showed he had amphetamine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and norfentanyl in his system.

The report didn’t state what drug Woelfel allegedly sold to the deceased.

Woelfel was reportedly arrested when police staged a fake drug deal with him.

Woelfel, who has about $600,000 in lifetime in-person poker tournament earnings, is currently in custody, according to the report.

Better known as an online poker, Woelfel once used the online screen name “soggy dogg” to win reported millions of dollars on the virtual felt during the mid-to-late 2000s.
