Phil Hellmuth and Scott Seiver will battle again on PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel III.
The two poker pros will meet sometime in August for a rematch of their battle in May, which was won by Hellmuth. Previously, each man put up $400,000 for a winner-take-all $800,000 pot.
The stakes double this time, with each risking $800,000 for a lofty pot of $1.6 million.
Here we go for $1,600,000. High Stakes Duel update:
scott_seiver has exercised his option to play me in a heads match for $800,000 apiece ($1.6M). The match will be in August, we are working out dates right now. Match is ONLY on

“He was just tough, and that’s what I was expecting,” Hellmuth told PokerGO after his first victory over Seiver. “He’s one of the greatest players in the world and also one of the best of his generation. I knew it was going to be a tough match. I enjoyed playing against him.”
Should Hellmuth beat Seiver again for the $1.6 million pot, he is eligible to “cash out” and exit the High Stakes Duel III, according to the rules of the contest.
If Seiver emerges victorious, Hellmuth will have the option to play another heads-up match with him.
Hellmuth has a life time 9-1 record on the show with wins over Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Negreanu, FOX Sports 1’s Nick Wright, Tom Dwan, and now Seiver.
Seiver served as a replacement on for Dwan, who withdrew from the event.
Both Hellmuth and Seiver are currently occupied playing at the 2022 World Series of Poker. Seiver remarkably went 0-43 in a recent Flip & Go event. He is OK with that result, however, because he also won his fourth bracelet earlier in the series.
Hellmuth himself is sitting on 16 bracelets, the most of any player in the game. As of Wednesday night, Hellmuth had one cash in the 2022 WSOP, a 136th-place finish in event no. 7 ($1,500 Omaha eight-or-better) for $2,400. He was then forced to the sidelines after contracting COVID, but has since returned and is now in the final 10 of the $10,000 Triple Draw event with a shot at another title.
The poker pros have nearly the same career live tournament winnings. Seiver has earnings of just a hair under $25 million, while Hellmuth has $24.6 million.
