Rene Nezhoda has been one of the main stars of the popular A&E reality television series Storage Wars for nearly a decade. The show follows experts who travel to storage locker auctions with the hopes of finding valuable items that have been abandoned to gather dust.

Nezhoda demonstrated that his profit-hunting skills extend beyond the world of storage auctions when he came out on top in a big poker tournament held in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He defeated a field of 340 total entries in the Americas Cardroom Enjoy Poker Tour Punta del Este $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, banking $70,455 and his first poker tournament title.

“I’m exhausted. All eight players were very good. Actually, the last 24 players were all very good. It was hard,” said Nezhoda in a video interview with ACR after coming out on top. “This goes to my Americas Cardroom family, to the Bargain Hunters family, to the Storage Wars family, my lovely wife, everybody that has been supporting me, and most of all my daughter back at home.”

This was far and away the largest poker score yet for Nezhoda. Prior to this victory, his biggest cash was the $12,745 he earned for a 13th-place showing in a $1,500 super turbo bounty event at the 2019 World Series of Poker.

Nezhoda had made a deep run just a handful of days earlier, placing 11th in a $3,300 buy-in event during the same series for $9,500. He now has $106,000 in lifetime live earnings to his name.

According to Nezhoda, he was originally a cash game grinder in Las Vegas before starting his business in California. He most recently appeared on Live At The Bike!, an online streaming cash game.

This breakout win for Nezhoda was noted by some of the biggest names in the poker game. 2003 WSOP main event champion Chris Moneymaker took to social media to send his congratulations.

All-time bracelet leader Phil Hellmuth also had words of support for Nezhoda, who responded with a message crediting the 16-time WSOP champion’s book for bolstering his mental fortitude during his run to the title.
