Over the past weekend British poker pro Ben Heath won back-to-back titles in a pair of €25,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em high roller events at the 2022 European Poker Tour Prague festival, earning more than $525,000 along with a pair of matching spade trophies.
Heath’s two wins in the Czech Republic saw his lifetime tournament earnigns grow to more than $14.4 million. The World Series of Poker bracelet winner now sits in third place on the UK’s all-time money list, behind only Stephen Chidwick ($44.9 million) and Sam Trickett ($21.8 million).
In addition to the titles and the money, Heath also secured 588 Card Player Player of the Year points in these events. With 3,167 total points accrued across 14 final-able finishes, Heath now sits in 45th place in the 2022 POY race standings presented by Global Poker.
Heath was one of 22 players to make their way to King’s Casino Prague for the first of these two single-day high roller events. The turnout resulted in a prize pool of $554,631 which was paid out among the top four finishers. Heath emerged victorious with the title and the top prize of $238,487, defeating Alex Kulev (2nd – $149,751) heads-up to secure the win. Daniel Dvoress, a bracelet winner from Canada, earned $99,834 and 168 points as the third-place finisher. This was his 17th final table of 2022, with more than $5.5 million in POY earnings accrued so far this year. As a result, Dvoress has climbed to 16th on the POY leaderboard.
Brazilian tournament star Pablo Silva finished fourth for $66,560. The very next day, he finished fourth again for another $88,872. The second high roller that Heath won drew 30 entries, which meant that the top five finishers shared the $756,315 prize pool.
2014 WSOP main event third-place finisher Jorryt van Hoof (5th – $71,852) was the first to fall inside the money. After Silva secured his second fourth-place finish, two-time bracelet winner Aleksejs Ponakovs was sent packing in third place ($122,903).
That left Heath heads-up with Thai poker pro Kannapong Thanarattrakul. Heath came out on top, sending his opponent to the rail with $185,294.
