Fresh off the World Poker Tour World Championship setting the record for the largest WPT main tour event in WPT history, the tour has announced the first half of its upcoming Season XXI schedule.
“Coming off an incredible 20th-anniversary season for WPT, we are looking forward to its progression into 2023,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Players have much to anticipate during Season XXI, as we have established some new partnerships and continued our relationships with longstanding staples of the tour.”
The release included info on both WPT main tour and WPT Prime events.
The main tour is set to kick off with the $3,500 buy-in WPT Rolling Thunder (Apr. 1–4) at Thunder Valley Casino near Sacramento, California.
Next up will be the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown (Apr. 28–May 2), in Hollywood, Florida. The $3,500 championship event set the tour’s field-size record with 2,482 entries in 2021 – a record that was surpassed by the 2,690-entry turnout for the ongoing WPT World Championship.
WPT Choctaw returns for the eighth time, with the $3,800 championship event running May 5-8. Later that month the tour will make its way back to southern California for the $5,250 WPT Gardens Poker Championship (May 21–25) at The Gardens Casino.
WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, WPT Choctaw, and WPT Gardens Poker Championship events will all feature televised final tables.
“It is the pride of WPT to offer such a wide range of tournament festivals when it comes to buy-in and location,” said VP of Global Tour Management Angelica Hael, who was recently inducted into the Women In Poker Hall of Fame. “We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all of our live partners worldwide and our appreciation for the players for their continued support”.
The WPT Prime schedule includes inaugural stops at WPT Prime Paris, WPT Prime Slovakia, and WPT Prime Sanremo, which brings the WPT experience to players in all corners of the globe and expands the international footprint of the WPT.
