The 2023 PokerGO Tour season is set to be the biggest yet, thanks in large part to a recent announcement of the doubling of the prize pool for the year-end PGT Championship. The event, first introduced in 2022 with $500,000 up for grabs, will pay out $1,000,000 in added money this year.

“The PGT is committed to growing the game at the highest levels and celebrating the best players in the world,” said President of PokerGO® Mori Eskandani. “After capping off an incredibly successful second season of the PGT, we’ve decided the only way to go is up. Not only will the PGT Championship see the game’s best players and brightest stars compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool, but it will provide an exclusive group of PGT Championship Dream Seat winners with an opportunity of a lifetime to compete in one of poker’s most prestigious events."

The 2023 PGT Championship will see the top 40 players in the final PGT points standings earn a seat in the event, alongside a select group of the ‘Dream Seat’ winners mentioned by Eskandani. These seats will be awarded through special events and promotions throughout the year.

The 40 players who qualify via the standings will, as in 2022, start with a chip stack determined by their leaderboard points accrued during the season. Players will all have at least 100 big blinds to start.

On top of the seven-figure season-ending event, the PGT will also award another $250,000 in added prize money throughout 2023, bringing the total to $1,250,000. The season-long leaderboard winner will earn $50,000, with championship bonuses of $50,000 also awarded to the points leaders at the conclusion of each of the PokerGo Cup, the U.S. Poker Open, and Poker Masters series. The PGT Mixed Games and PGT PLO Series champions will each earn $25,000 championship bonuses as well.

The season is set to get underway with the PokerGO Cup, which runs from Jan. 11-20 and features eight high-stakes no-limit hold’em events. The final tables of all the two-day tournaments will be live-streamed on PokerGO. Sign up for an account today using the promo code ‘CardPlayer’ for $20 off an annual subscription.
