World Poker Tour Enterprises has entered a five-year contract with a popular American pub poker league, the Amateur Poker League, to bring the WPT experience to venues everywhere.

The APL and WPTE have joined forces to form the World Poker Tour Amateur Poker League (WPTAPL). According to WPTE, the APL holds more than 500 free tournaments in approximately 180 venues in more than a dozen states.

All participating players will now earn WPTAPL points and will end up on a leader board hosted at www.wptapl.com. Points will get players into regional tournaments, and the regional winners will go on to play in the WPTAPL championship event to be held in Orlando, Florida, in April 2008. The winner of this event wins a $10,000 entry into a WPT event.

Also, each month, the WPTAPL will give one of its players a seat into the WPT Celebrity Invitational, an invitation-only freeroll in which the winner earns a seat into the $25,000 WPT Championship.

WPTE also announced a five-year agreement with Classic Gaming Cruises (CGC) to create WPT Cruises, which will first head out to sea in February.
