Poker Academy Prospector is a fantastic piece of software that is a must-have for any online player who is trying to get better. The many different features packed into this easy-to-use suite help give players a better understanding of their game by taking the player's actual hand histories from online sites they use to generate reports about the player's game.
To play poker at the highest levels, players need to understand the way they're playing as clearly as possible. Extreme self-honesty is required, but hubris often gets in the way and clouds the ability of people to completely remove the ego and face the facts. Poker is truly a psychological battle, and battling the self is one of the toughest things to do. It can be hard to pinpoint leaks and it's also easy to fool ourselves into thinking that luck is the only reason our game is suffering.
The
Prospector doesn't allow players to do this. By taking thousands of the player's hand histories, it's able to instantly create a portrait of that player's game. It takes all those abstract poker concepts players apply to the game and provides visual evidence to show if those concepts are working or not. And because Poker Academy's software team packed so many features into its
Prospector, a player can take a hard look at just about any facet of their game to find out exactly where the leaks are.
It helps that the software is easy to use and extremely intuitive. This means that the features players are looking for while using it are usually where they feel like they should be. The software is able to generate a cornucopia of charts, reports, spreadsheets, comparisons, and statistics, and the designers did a fantastic job of making the software fun and easy to use.
But, more importantly, it's extremely helpful.
When players first fire up
Poker Academy Prospector, the software automatically scans the computer for all recorded instances of hand histories. Players must do this in order for the software to work. It takes seconds to import the information, and it will continue to automatically do so every five minutes (a factory setting, which is completely adjustable) as long as the software is open.
This means a player can actually watch and measure how they're playing while they're in the middle of it. For example, say a player loses a nice-sized pot in a ring game and wants to see just how it went down.
Prospector allows the user to take that hand, pull open a hand replayer, and watch how it happened. And then it allows the user to take that situation and see just how it played out the dozens of other times it happened.
The software also generates reports using the collected hand information. Reports are available in 11 different categories: positional awareness, stealing, defending the blinds, pocket pairs, connectors, continuation bets, and so on. These reports generate nice summaries about position and the action used when playing certain hands, but with one click, the software generates a chart showing exactly how much profit or loss was caused by playing, say, offsuit connectors in a sixhanded no-limit hold'em game.
It's through these charts and reports that players will rediscover their game. It's sobering to see just how much money is lost in certain preventable situations, but it's also exciting to recognize a leak. Once spotted, measures could go toward repairing it.
The software also keeps track of the actual opponents players faced so users can see exactly who they won or lost the most money from, and then they can view the hands to see how it happened.
There are so many features in the software that it would be impossible to mention them all here. The number of charts it could generate would take a thousand words alone, so please click

Poker Academy Prospector is simply a powerful tool that any online poker player would find useful. The information that will be gained from this software by discerning poker players will quickly erase the $59 price tag.
