After delays due to the pandemic, the time has come to break ground on the future Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa.

A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The event will begin at 2:30 p.m., where Hard Rock International executives will be joined by elected officials and business and community leaders as they unveil new renderings and details.

Ottawa is Canada’s capital, in the east of southern Ontario, near the city of Montréal and the U.S.

The ceremony will be held indoors in Rideau Carleton Casino’s live venue, The Joint, featuring remarks by the Mayor of Ottawa and City officials, Seminole Tribe representatives, Hard Rock International officials, and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation officials.

In partnership with Rideau Carleton Casino, renovations are set to begin for the development. As part of the service agreement with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Hard Rock International took over the day-to-day operations of Rideau Carleton Casino in September 2017.

Like it has done elsewhere, Hard Rock decided to rebrand the property.

With updated construction plans currently being finalized, the casino will soon see $350 million worth of new investment under the construction project, one of the largest private investment developments currently in Ottawa.

The development of a revitalized gaming and entertainment destination in Ottawa will recapture spending from Ontario residents and tourists traveling to Quebec for gambling. It’s estimated that nearly $60 million in gambling spend is lost to the neighboring province on an annual basis.

The project is entirely funded by Hard Rock and Rideau Carleton Casino. It is expected to generate over $206 million in tax revenue for the Province of Ontario, the Canadian Federal Government, and the City of Ottawa, once fully complete. The figure includes over $13 million in annual revenue for the City of Ottawa once fully operational.
