This year’s inductee for the Poker Hall of Fame has been whittled down to a field of 10 finalists.

  • Josh Arieh
  • Jeremy Ausmus
  • Ted Forrest
  • Kathy Liebert
  • Mike Matusow
  • Lon McEachern and Norman Chad
  • Brian Rast
  • Matt Savage
  • Isai Scheinberg
  • Bill Smith

The nominees were chosen in part by an online vote from the public, as well as the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council.

In order to be considered for the Poker Hall of Fame, a player must be at least 40 years old, “played consistently well against acknowledged top competition, while gaining the respect of their peers and standing the test of time.” Or, in the case of non-players, they must have “contributed to the overall growth and success of the game, with indelible positive and lasting results.”

The vote now moves to the 31 living members of the hall to determine who will be the 2023 inductee. The announcement will be made on July 13 during the annual Poker hall of Fame bounty event at the WSOP.

The tournament has a buy-in of $1,979, a nod to the year that the hall was founded, and Hall of Famers who participate will have a bounty place on their head corresponding to the year they were inducted.

Last year, the honor went to the late Layne Flack, who became the 61st member overall. The six-time bracelet winner passed away in 2021.
