At this summer's World Series of Poker, Sally Boyer was fresh off of training from the WSOP Ladies-Only Academy when she won a bracelet in the $1,000 ladies no-limit hold'em World Championship event. Boyer outlasted a record field of 1,286 players to take home the first-place prize of more than $262,000. The WSOP Academy announced today that the next ladies-only camp, where women can get first-hand lessons from world-class instructors, will be on Jan. 25-26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The instructors scheduled to be at this event include poker superstar Annie Duke, Alex "The Insider" Outhred, and poker tells expert Joe Navarro. Navarro will teach the students how to detect nonverbal tells and what they mean. In addition to seminars, the ladies will get interactive workshops, live hand demonstrations, and customized handbooks.
The ladies will also get to put their skills to use under pressure when they compete in a tournament for five seats into the 2008 WSOP $1,000 ladies event.
The cost of the camp is $1,699 and spots are limited. The camp Boyer attended was sold out, and this one is also expected to sell out well in advance. There is also still space left in the first-ever WSOP Academy H.O.R.S.E. poker camp, scheduled for Nov. 2-4 in Las Vegas.
