The 2023 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em mystery bounty main event drew a total of 357 entries across three starting flights, easily surpassing the $300,000 guarantee to create a final prize pool of $537,285.

While $358,785 of that prize money went into the main prize pool, $178,500 was set aside for the bounties that are set to be awarded on day 2, which will range from $500 to $50,000. (A full listing of the bounties can be found at the bottom of this story.)

Following the completion of day 1C, there are now 47 players remaining in the event, each of whom has officially made the money. They will all earn at least $1,743 for their efforts, with five-figure paydays for the top seven finishers and $74,010 for the eventual champion.

Jeffrey DavoudDay 1C drew 194 entries, blowing away the 106 made on day 1B and 57 on day 1A. After More than 13 hours of action, Jeffrey Davoud ended the day with 625,000 for the largest chip stack of any player heading into day 2.

Davoud won an all-in with A-K against A-Q a few hours before the end of the night, then steadily added to his stack during the lengthy stretch of hand-for-hand on the money bubble.

The bubble officially burst when Deborah Miller shoved her last few big blinds with JHeart Suit8Club Suitand received a call from the ASpade Suit5Diamond Suit of Rodney Turvin and an unknown hand from David Nodes. The two players on the side checked through on a 10Diamond Suit6Club Suit2Heart SuitAClub SuitQSpade Suit runout and Turvin showed his pair of aces to claim the pot.

Turvin ended the night with 448,000, putting him in third place among the day 1C survivors. The Georgia resident has more than $1.3 million in tournament earnings and could be adding to that total in a big way if he runs deep in this event.

Michael Jagroo bagged up the second-largest stack from flight 1C with 507,000. The Sunny Isles Beach resident is also a very accomplished tournament regular, with more than $712,000 in prior scores to his name.

Other notables who bagged on day 1C included WSOP Circuit ring winner Jason May (343,000), recent CPPT bestbet Jacksonville $300 ladies event champion Kim Sukyung (178,000), 2016 Heartland Poker Tour Florida main event winner Jermaine Gerlin (108,000), and 2022 World Series of Poker $3,000 no-limit hold’em event runner-up Toby Boas (69,000).

Plenty of big names hit the rail on day 1C, including 2013 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event winner Harvey Vandeven, 2014 WPT bestbet Open Champion Nabil Hirezi, and ten-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Jeffrey Trudeau, who was knocked out a couple of spots from the money when his top pair with a ten kicker ran into the same hand with a flush draw held by Sukyung. The flush came in to end Trudeau’s run at a second consecutive CPPT main event cash here in Jacksonville. He finished as the runner-up in last year’s $2,500 buy-in at this stop for $109,321.
