Day one of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Baden Open got underway today with players from around the world descending on the medieval spa town just outside Vienna, Austria.
The international contingent was headed by Team PokerStars members Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Katja Thater, Hevad Khan, Dario Minieri, Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier, Luca Pagano, Noah Boeken, Andre Akari, and Barry Greenstein.
Unlike the first two stops on this year's tour in Barcelona and London, day one is not split over two days. The Barcelona event was won by Sander Lylloff who took home the €1.1 million first prize while the London event was won by Lebanese Joseph Mouawad who collected £611,520.
Unusually for an EPT event the Baden tournament starts on Sunday, continuing to Wednesday. The buy-in is €7,600 + €400. Players start with 10,000 in chips and blind levels are one hour with the first being 25-50.
Play begins at 6 p.m. Central European Time. There will be six levels played on day one. Check the PokerStars.com blog for regular updates on the tournament and Cardplayer.com for daily recaps of the main action.
