Day three of the PokerStars.com EPT Baden Open at the Congress Casino saw 40 players return, 24 make the money, and eight reach the final table with a shot at the €670,800 first-place prize. With 282 players buying in for €8,000 each, the total prize pool was €2.14 million, and the final table proved to be a multi-national affair with six players from across Europe and two Americans.

Hevad "RaiNKhan" Kahn, finalist at this year's World Series of Poker main event, was the first casualty of the day when he ran into aces. The eliminations mounted thick and fast with Carlo Di Renzo suffering a similar fate against aces shortly thereafter. Thor Hansen and Matt Tyler missed out on the money, as did Surinder Sunar, who was an early victim of Julian Thew, who seemed to win every coin flip and find hands when he needed to during the day.

Sunar had A-J and was called by Thew's 8-8. Though a Jack hit the board, a later street turned an 8 and Thew turned his little bit of luck into a platform that hurtled him to second chip leader at the final table.

Austrian Heimo Kraner was the bubble boy and Spaniard Daniel Mangas was first to cash in 24th for €12,860.
Previous EPT winner Andreas Hoivold exited in 22nd when he ran A-4 into K-K. Peter Gould floundered on Thierry Van Den Berg's aces playing A-K, WSOP-bracelet winner Alan Smurfit's K-K fell victim to Thew's A-J for 20th place, while Thew also took out Pascal Perrault with A-A.

Alex Kravchenko ran into aces for a 17th-place finish. Gunnar Rabe, from Sweden, was the unfortunate TV-bubble boy when his pocket tens went up against Q-10, only to see Manfred Hammer's hand develop into a straight. Rabe received €38,600.Thomas Fuller leading the U.S. charge at Baden EPT
