There are now just six events remaining to be played in the 2023 PokerGO Tour season, with the PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll set to kick off on Jan. 9, 2024. The leaderboard has seen some notable changes in recent weeks thanks to several high-stakes events at the World Series of Poker Paradise series.
Isaac Haxton remains at the top of the PGT standings, having added two more qualifying cashes at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas during the WSOP Paradise. Haxton now has 2,662 PGT points, with 12 in-the-money finishes and four titles won, including the Super High Roller Bowl VIII. All told, he has cashed for more than $7 million in events awarding PGT points.
Chris Brewer kept pace with Haxton, scoring two cashes of his own in the Bahamas. With 23 PGT cashes for nearly $7.4 million, two wins, and 2,453 points, Brewer remains in second place on the leaderboard.
Erik Seidel’s historic tenth career bracelet win helped catapult him up the rankings. The 64-year-old took down the $50,000 high roller at the WSOP Paradise for $1,704,400 and 750 PGT points. This was his 11th qualified cash of the year, with one title won. His 1,474 points put him just outside the top 10 heading into the final stretch.
Fifth-ranked Alex Foxen recorded his 21st PGT cash, placing sixth in the event won by Seidel for $337,300 and 202 PGT points. Ren Lin, who sits just behind Foxen, cashed four times for 164 points. He now trails Foxen by just 94 points.
The player who earned the most PGT points during the WSOP Paradise series was Jason Koon. He recorded three in-the-money finishes, adding 853 points to his total while cashing for nearly $2.5 million. His two most noteworthy results were a fourth-place finish in the $50,000 high roller for $582,100 and a runner-up finish in the $100,000 buy-in for another $1,817,000. Koon now sits in 33rd place in the PGT standings after his spree in the Caribbean.
Daniel Smiljkovic jumped to 34th in the standings thanks to a third-place showing in the $25,000 high roller for nearly $1.2 million. This was his third PGT cash of the year.
Masashi Oya won his way into the top 40 by taking down the aforementioned $100,000 buy-in event, topping Koon heads-up to secure his first bracelet and the top prize of more than $2.9 million.

Those are the current players who would qualify for the PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll if the race were to end today. The event will pay $500,000 to its champion, with additional payouts for the final table. This unique event will see players earn starting chips based on their point totals in the year-long race. In addition to the scramble for more points for the sake of a larger stack, top contenders will also be looking to end the season with the most leaderboard points to lock up a $50,000 bonus payout for achieving that feat.
There is one more six-event series left to play: the PGT Last Chance festival, which will run from Jan. 2-7, 2024, from inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each of the events will be a $10,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament with a noon start time. There will be two ‘Dream Seats’ into the PGT Championship awarded to the two highest point earners from this series who have not already qualified for the event by making the top 40 in the final standings.
