The 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw $1,700 no-limit hold’em main event featured a guarantee of $1 million. A strong turnout of 851 entries saw that guarantee easily surpassed, with $1,206,069 in total prize money eventually paid out among the top 97 finishers.
The largest share of the prize pool was awarded to eventual champion Jonathan Glendinning. The Boulder, Colorado resident earned $231,832 and his first WSOPC gold ring for the win.
This was the second-largest score of his career, coming hot on the heels of his top score which was recorded in late December of 2023. That deep run saw Glendinning place fourth from a massive field of 10,512 in the WPT Prime Championship at Wynn Las Vegas for $505,000. Before that, Glendinning’s top payday had been a $24,627 cash as the sixth-place finisher in a 2021 Mid-States Poker Tour Colorado main event. He now has more than $860,000 in recorded earnings to his name.
In addition to the title, the hardware, and the money, Glendinning also secured 912 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion of this tournament. He now sits in fourth place in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker heading into the back half of January.
Glendinning came into the final day of this event in fifth chip position with eight players remaining. He outlasted plenty of tough competition at the final table, including four-time bracelet winner Brad Ruben (4th – $78,174) and 2019 World Poker Tour Choctaw main event runner-up William Berry (2nd – $143,289). Ruben came very close to earning his second WSOPC Choctaw main event title. In November of 2023 he bested a 934-entry field at this venue to earn $250,140 and his first ring.
