Online poker company PokerHeaven has launched "Poker IQ Test" on Facebook, claiming to be the first worldwide competition where poker fans compete against one another in a range of tests on when it is right to call or fold in a game of poker.
In the first 48 hours it was available, the game was downloaded 1,684 times and Tajdar O. Chaudry, from Pakistan, was leading the standings with an IQ of 312 (immeasurable genius).
The game includes a strong education element as it teaches players how to calculate pot odds (with helpful coach tips in the early stages), and compare this to their chance of winning, thereby improving their skills at knowing when to stay in or out of a pot.
Players are presented with a series of scenarios in a heads-up Texas hold 'em game, where their opponent has gone all-in on the turn. To make the game easy, they can see their opponent's cards. They have to decide whether to call or fold based on the pot odds available and the number of outs available.
Crispin Nieboer, CEO, said, "As part of our continuing commitment to innovate ahead of the market, we are delighted to offer Facebook users this unique game to help improve their poker skills and see where they rank against the best from around the world."
