Online Poker: Pairofnothin Takes Down Sunday Million

Scott 'SCTrojans08' Wins at Bodog

Print-icon

The weekend's major events played out in their usual fashion, but their affect on the Card Player Online Player of the Year (OPOY) leader board was anything but ordinary. Some weekends see the top-10 players relatively quiet, with no big wins to speak of and no jockeying for position, but Scott "SCTrojans" Freeman came out swinging on both Saturday and Sunday. He started the weekend sitting in seventh place on the leader board, but he managed to make the final table of two major events, including a win in one of them (read about it below) to vault into sixth place. This pace is anything but atypical of Freeman lately, as he's been killing in the online tournaments and making a run for the top spot of the OPOY leader board.

PokerStars Sunday Million

PokerStars had 6,366 entrants in its Sunday Million tournament last night, making for a prize pool of $1,266,000. This attendance number was up negligibly from a week ago, when 6,330 entrants bought in. After 6,364 other players had been eliminated, it was just ClubbedBoat and Pairofnothing remaining. ClubbedBoat had the chip lead, and the two players decided to make a deal, with ClubbedBoat getting the lion's share but leaving enough on the line for the eventual winner to give Pairofnothin a chance to pull into the prize-money lead if he took the event down. Pairofnothin did just that when he scooped in the final pot and earned himself a total first-place payday of $140,449 compared to ClubbedBoat's second-place earnings of $138,000.

The final results were:
  1. Pairofnothin - $140,448.84 *
  2. ClubbedBoat - $138,000 *
  3. McNAbb2 - $68,625.48
  4. twin peaks07 - $53,474.40
  5. LukeFromB13 - $40,869.72
  6. Ralfinator - $29,283.60
  7. Crawfdad - $21,007.80
  8. canalman - $12,732
  9. Binde - $7,893.84
* Payout reflects a two-way deal.

Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

Full Tilt held its first $750,000-guaranteed tournament in two weeks to not require an overlay last night. The previous two weeks' tournaments, held on Oct. 7 and Sept. 30, had 3,570 entrants and 3,709 entrants, respectively, and required overlays of $36,000 and $8,200, respectively. Last night's event saw 3,806 entrants buy in to generate a prize pool of $761,200. When it got down to the final two players, it was Jubbley and gagillionaire left. Jubbley had made the final table of this event before, on April 15 (one of the two back-to-back events that Greg "DuckU" Hobson took down). He eventually finished in fourth place there ($49,410) and thus was already well ahead of his previous accomplishment. However, gagillionaire bested his foe and found himself on the receiving end of the final pot. He earned $134,770 for taking down the huge event, while Jubbley pocketed $81,448 for second place.

The final results were:
  1. gagillionaire - $134,770.46
  2. Jubbley - $81,448.40
  3. Eddits - $53,284
  4. phatphat - $42,018.24
  5. Mr_BigQueso - $31,513.68

  7. Flynn McCaffrey - $17,507.60
  8. AmericanTilt - $13,701.60
  9. Fire80 - $10,200.08

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The $200,000-guaranteed tournament at UltimateBet lured 929 entrants last night, down just 8 entrants from last Sunday. The tournament required a $14,200 overlay to match the posted guarantee. Prominent Internet player kcannon got heads-up with sideshowbobbb in the event, and he eventually outlasted his final opponent to snag the $45,000 first-place prize.

The final results were:
  1. kcannon - $45,000
  2. sideshowbobbb - $26,500

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament had 783 entrants last night, up from last weekend's 744 entrants. The tournament hasn't seen fields of more than 800 entrants since August. Bodog came out of pocket for $21,700 to reach the $100,000 guarantee. Notable Internet pro Scott "SCTrojans08" Freeman, currently a top-10 contender in the Card Player Online Player of the Year race, made the final table of the event. SCTrojans08 battled his way to heads-up play versus thatsNice. SCTrojans08 eventually beat out thatsNice to take down the tournament, earning $25,000 and 240 OPOY points. Those extra points, in conjunction with the 120 points that he earned the night before in the Absolute Poker $150,000-guaranteed event, hurtled him over James "P0KERPR0" Campbell and into sixth place in the standings. He now has 5,030 points compared to Campbell's 4,950. (OPOY leader Matt "ch0ppy" Kay has 6,724 points.)

The final results were:
  1. Scott "SCTrojans08" Freeman - $25,000
  2. thatsNice - $14,300
  3. Trakrunner03 - $9,200
