On Sunday, 1,337 bloggers played in the PokerStars World Blogger Championship of Online Poker (WBCOOP), an annual event in which PokerStars shows its appreciation to the world's scribes who express themselves on the Internet.
A Portuguese blogger, who plays as LParreira, won the event. He won a $12,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package. That tournament, which is a World Poker Tour event, takes place Jan. 4-11 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Caribbean.
PokerStars gave away $40,000 in prizes, including a 50-inch plasma-screen TV, tickets to big buy-in events on the site, poker tables, chips sets, a computer monitor, and more.
The final nine players showed just how international PokerStars has become, as they represented the United States, Portugal, France, Brazil, UK, Greece, and Norway.
Not all of the players in the tournament write for poker blogs, but they were bloggers, nonetheless. To enter, players had to post a graphic advertising the WBCOOP on their blogs, and a PokerStars employee had to verify that the blog had been running for at least two months prior to the tourney. This was the third bloggers tourney sponsored by PokerStars.
