A Look At The Ten Most Recent Winners To Emerge During The 82-Event Series That Runs June 6 - July 24

The 2024 Summer Poker Series has been running for nearly a month now at Resorts World Las Vegas, with several weeks of action still scheduled. The features a total of 82 events, which collectively sport over $900,000 in guarantees, spanning from June 6 – July 22.

Now, here is a look at the latest champions to be crowned at Resorts World Las Vegas, with 41 tournaments now in the books.

Event #32 – $40,000 Guaranteed $360 No-Limit Hold’em Ladies Event

Amy MynderseThe $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em ladies event attracted a field of 259 female poker enthusiasts, nearly doubling the $40,000 guarantee to create a final prize pool of $79,254.

The top 27 finishers made the money, with notables like Caitlin Comeskey (26th), Louise Francoeur (19th), 2021 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville monster stack event winner Denise Allen (18th), 2023 World Poker Tour Ladies Championship winner Lisa Costello (10th), two-time bracelet winner Loni Hui (4th), and poker photographer Hayley Hochstetler (3rd) all running deep.

In the end, Amy Mynderse emerged victorious with the title and the top prize of $19,023. This was the largest live score yet for the Pearland, Texas resident.

Ada Lang, who finished sixth in the previously mentioned ladies tournament won by Costello last winter, secured $11,888 as the runner-up. She now has nearly $141,000 in career scores to her name.

Event #33 – $5,000 Guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold’em

Christopher Zaworski triumphed in event no. 33, outlasting a field of 79 entries to secure the title and the top prize of $4,334. The was the first recorded live victory for Zaworksi.

The top eight finishers earned a share of the $13,035 prize pool in this $5,000 guaranteed tournament, with Contrera Rivas finishing second for $2,685. Just a few days later Rivas managed another runner-up finish, adding another $3,230 for that deep run.

Yifan Tang (3rd – $1,760) and Kennon Perez (4th – $1,251) completed the list of players who walked away with four-figure scores in this event.

Event #34 – $15,000 Guaranteed $300 No-Limit Hold’em

Nicholas ZuninoNicholas Zunino was the next champion to emerge at the festival. He was the last player standing from a field of 171 entries in the $15,000 guaranteed $300 buy-in no-limit hold’em event. The Uruguayan was awarded $12,003 for the win.

Seattle’s Laurence Hughes walked away with $7,418 as the runner-up. This was the 87th recorded cash for Hughes, who now has more than $357,000 in lifetime scores under his belt.

The $44,460 prize pool for this event (nearly 3x the guarantee) was paid out among the top 18 finishers, with $1,005 or more for the top 12.

Event #35 – $5,000 Guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold’em

Alistair MassieThe next $5,000 guaranteed event on the schedule attracted 71 entries, with Alistair Massie being the one to nab the title via a tournament-ending deal.

Both Massie and Emil Simonea, who hails from France, earned $3,154 as a part of the agreement. Danny Grogan finished third for $1,582, bringing his career haul to over $202,000 in the process.

The $11,715 prize pool went to the top eight finishers this time around.

Event #36 – $15,000 Guaranteed $300 No-Limit Hold’em

The guarantee was sized up again to $15,000 for event no. 36, 169 entries posting $300 to end up with $43,940 in prize money.

The top 18 cashed, with the lion’s share going Vegard Ropstad of Oslo, Norway. He earned $7,761 to bring his lifetime earnings to nearly $137,000.

The runner-up apparently asked to remain anonymous, but we can report that Michael Jobe finsihed third for $6,617 while Jason Shellum placed fourth for $5,563.

Event #37 – $5,000 Guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold’em

Simon Lau emerged victorious from a field of 113 entries in event no. 37, earning $3,822 as the champion.

Jorge Pena earned $3,298 as the runner-up finisher.

Martin Gorenc, who won a $1,100 event on the 2019 Heartland Poker Tour Western Caribbean Cruise, finsihed sixth for $978. He now has more than $212,000 in career earnings.

Event #38 – $100,000 Guaranteed $400 No-Limit Hold’em

Konstantinos NanosThe second and final $100,000 guaranteed tournament on the schedule ran from June 27-30. A total of 467 entries were made in the $400 buy-in affair across three starting flights, besting the guarantee by $63,450.

Konstantinos Nanos was crowned the champion in the end, earning $23,531 for the win. The German player now has $1,164,000 in career earnings after this victory, which was the sixth record win of his career. His largest score was a $369,755 payday for finishing third in the 2010 European Poker Tour Vienna main event. He also earned $158,970 as the champion of the 2015 World Poker Tour National Vienna main event.

Pard Gonzalez earned $15,995 as the runner-up, while James Burrell cashed for $15,313 as the third-place finisher.

Brandon Zuidema finished sixth for $6,215. He now has more than $1.2 million in career cashes across 158 in-the-money finishes.

The top 38 finishers earned a share of the $163,450 prize pool.

Event #39 – $5,000 Guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold’em

With 108 entries, event no. 39 ended up with $17,820 in total prize money to award across the top 13 finishers.

Jerry Polasek secured $3,579 as the winner. This was his second career title, bringing the Salt Lake City resident’s total earnings to more than $16,000.

With 123 entries, event no. 40 had $43,050 in prize money to award. That represented a bit more than double the $20,000 guarantee for the $400 buy-in tournament.

Axel Werner took the largest chunk of the pot, walking away with $8,185 for the win. He now has nearly $201,000 in lifetime scores.

Patrick Martorella finished as the runner-up for $6,664.

Event #41 – $5,000 Guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold’em

The final event included in this recap was another $200 buy-in affair. With 96 entries, the $5,000 guarantee was more than tripled, with $15,840 paid out to the top 12 finisher.

Pard Acevedo came out on top, earning $2,350 for the win. This was the first recorded tournament score for the Las Vegas resident.

Byoung Kim cashed for $2,220 as the runner-up.
