Jared Bleznick has been around the biggest poker cash games in the world for a long time. In recent years he’s focused more on his sports card business, but that apparently hasn’t hampered his ability to show up and beat out the best. Bleznick has actually recorded three of the four largest tournament paydays of his career in the past calendar year. He most recently beat out a field of 178 entries in the $50,000 no-limit hold’em high roller at the 2024 World Series of Poker to earn his first bracelet and a career-best score of $2,037,947.
The 2023 Super High Roller Bowl Pot-Limit Omaha champion now has more than $6.9 million in total tournament earnings to his name.
Bleznick was awarded 1,326 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his first title and fourth final-table finish of 2024. With 2,150 points and $2,612,161 in to-date POY earnings, Bleznick is now sitting in 95th place in the overall standings. He also earned 800 PokerGO Tour points, bringing his total to 993, which is good for 16th place in the season-long PGT standings.
The turnout of 187 entries for this high stakes tournament built a prize pool of $8,499,500. The top 27 finishers earned a share, with even a min-cash being worth six figures ($102,299 to be precise).
Plenty of big names ran deep, including poker’s all-time money leader Bryn Kenney (27th), two-time bracelet winner Chris Brewer (24th), Viktor Blom (17th), bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion Brek Schutten (16th), four-time bracelet winner David Peters (11th), ten-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel (8th), and PokerStars founder Isai Scheinberg (7th).
The third and final day of this event saw five players return to Horseshoe Las Vegas, with Christoph Vogelsang in the lead and Bleznick in second chip position. Bleznick scored the first knockout of the day, beating the A-K suited of two-time bracelet winner Justin Saliba with A-Q. The board brought four spades to give Bleznick the nut flush and the pot. Saliba earned $499,097 as the fifth-place finisher.
Jose ‘Nacho’ Barbero lost a big all-in with A-10 against the pocket kings of two-time bracelet winner Jesse Lonis to be left on fumes. Barbero then got all-in with Q-4 leading the 10-6 of Lonis. The board gave Lonis eights and sixes to end Barbero’s run in fourth place. The bracelet winner from Argentina earned $685,405 for his seventh final-table finish of the year. With two titles won so far in 2024, Barbero is now the 18th-ranked player on the POY leaderboard.
2017 Super High Roller Bowl champion Christoph Vogelsang was the next to fall, with his A-9 running into the pocket tens of a surging Bleznick. The pocket pair held up and Vogelsang settled for $957,104 as the third-place finisher. He now has nearly $35.9 million in career tournament earnings after this deep run.
Bleznick held better than a 2:1 chip lead over Lonis when heads-up play began. He was able to add to that a bit before the final hand arose. Lonis limped from the button with 77 and Bleznick moved all-in with A4. The board ran out AK85A and Bleznick made trip aces to close out the tournament.
Lonis earned $1,358,633 as the runner-up, increasing his lifetime tournament haul to $11,145,488. This was his 15th final-table finish of the year. He now sits in third place in the POY rankings with 6,530 points and nearly $3.9 million in to-date POY earnings.
