The 2024 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville $300,000 guaranteed $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em mystery bounty main event kicked off with the first of three starting flights on Aug. 22. A total of 75 entries were made by the time registration came to a close, up from 57 on the same starting day last year. After roughly 11 hours of action, the field had been narrowed to just 10 contenders, each of whom have officially made the money and moved on to day 2.
The chip leader is Ken Brosnahan 587,000. The Marietta, Georgia resident (pictured above) has more than $185,000 in career tournament earnings accrued over 76 lifetime cashes.
Brosnahan scored the final knockout of the day, outrunning the pocket tens of World Series of Poker bracelet winner Russell Brooks with J-7 to burst the bubble for day 1A. He also won a massive three-way all-in earlier with pocket tens besting the pocket eights and pocket aces of two opponents. The board ran out AQ8JK to give Brosnahan broadway and the double knockout, jumpstarting his late surge to the lead.
The second-largest stack moving forward from this flight belongs to Brian Dumaplin, also of Georgia. He bagged up 365,000 and will be looking to add to his $121,000 in lifetime cashes.
Other big names left include WSOP Circuit ring winner Tyler Phillips (353,000), 2017 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event winner Jared Reinstein (269,000), 2022 bestbet Spring Series mystery bounty champion Nick Raio (240,000), and WSOPC ring winner Brian Senie (71,000).
Plenty of notables hit the rail during day 1A action, including 2921 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event winner Ben Scrogins, Toby Boas, Dion Jagroo, and Eddy Mroczkowski.
There are still two starting flights remaining for players looking to get in on the action in this $300,000 guaranteed event. Flights 1B and 1C both begin at noon on Aug. 23 and 24. There will be unlimited re-entries available during the registration periods, with late registration and re-entry available through the start of level 10 each day.
Day 2 will see those that moved on start in the money, with the mystery bounties in play. Bounties are will range from $500 to $50,000.
