2024 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville Mystery Bounty Day 1B: Dustin Holladay LeadsThe Second of Three Starting Flights Drew 124 Entries, With 16 Moving On To Day 2 At Night's End |

Day 1B of the the 2024 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville $300,000 guaranteed $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em mystery bounty main event drew 124 entries. By the end of the night, just 16 players remained, each having made the money and with a spot locked up for day 2. This was the second of three starting flights for this event, with Day 1C set to start at noon on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The chip leader is Dustin Holladay, who finished third in the 2021 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville $2,500 buy-in main event for a career-best payday of $77,910. Holladay (pictured above) bagged up 525,000 heading into day 2, thanks in large part to a massive pot he won during the penultimate level of day 1B. Holladay got all-in with bottom set facing the middle pair and nut flush draw of Toby Boas, who was the chip leader at the time. Holladay faded the draw to double into the top spot on the leaderboard, and held it from there through the end of play.
Other big stacks at the end of day 1B included Fred Evans (420,000), Angel Boas (331,000), Nicholas Chong (316,000), and Jessica Cai (316,000).
Despite taking that big hit late in the day, Toby Boas still ended up joining his wife Angel in making day 2. Boas, who has nearly $2.2 million in career tournament scores under his belt, ended the bay with 259,000. The Boas family was not the only couple to survive day 1B. Zhen Cai, who finished sixth in the 2019 World Series of Poker main event, joined his wife Jessica in bagging up after the pair bought into day 1B near the very end of late registration. Jessica finished fifth in the CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event back in 2021, just a couple of spots before Holladay was eliminated. Zhen ended the day with 198,000.
Among the big names that were knocked out during Day 1B were 2021 champion of this event Ben Scrogins, 2023 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event fifth-place finisher Dion Jagroo, two-time final tablist of this event John O’Neal, defending champion Heng Zhang, and Ryan Hogan, who was knocked out on the money bubble with pocket nines losing a race against the A-Q of Cameron Miller.
A total of 199 entries were made through the first two flights, with 10 players moving on from day 1A and the 16 from day 1B. Those 26 players will join the day 1C survivors for Sunday’s day 2. All those that move on will be in the money with the mystery bounties in play, which will range from $500 to $50,000.
As with the first two flights, there will be unlimited re-entries available during the registration period for day 1C, with late registration and re-entry available through the start of level 10.
