The Venetian in Las Vegas announced its dates for the 2008 version of its popular Deep Stack Extravaganza series. Starting Feb. 4, the Venetian will run 21 middle-buy-in tournaments, featuring mostly no-limit hold'em, with the final event being a $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament on Feb. 24. Players in this event will start with $15,000 in chips.
This will be the third installment of the DSE. The last version, which took place during this year's World Series of Poker, was a resounding success for the Venetian, with many of the tournaments attracting more than 500 players. Together, the first two DSE's brought in more than 19,000 entrants and generated total prize pools of more than $10 million.
Satellites, wherein tournament lammers are won and can be used toward any tournament buy-in, will be run around the clock. A $200 (with rebuys) supersatellite into the $2,500 event will take place Feb. 23.
