Igor Yaroshevskyy was the top finisher in the $60,000 buy-in turbo event at the Triton Super High Roller Poker Series, and that gave the Ukrainian poker player the third win of his career. It was also good for his second Triton trophy, bringing his career earnings above $10.5 million.

Yaroshevskyy didn’t have much to say after his victory, but his rail did the talking for him with chants of “Second time," repeatedly when the tournament reached its conclusion.

The total field for the event stood at 61 entries to put the total prize pool up to $3.66 million with the top 11 players pocketing at least $91,500. The two players that made the money but missed the final table were Brian Kim in 10th place, and Michael Soyza in 11th place.

Yaroshevskyy was in the bottom half of the chip counts when the final table began, and David Yan kicked off the eliminations with an exit in ninth place. Thomas Boivin surprisingly went from chip leader to out in eighth place next after Luc Greenwood scored a double up with a full house over Boivin’s flush.

Yaroshevskyy got in on delivering the bustouts next when he took out Ren Lin in seventh place to start climbing the chip standings. This was Lin’s 20th final table of the year, putting him in ninth place overall in the Card Player Player of the Year race.

Germany’s Leon Sturm was out next in sixth place, and that knockout came at the hands of Greenwood to take him up to the chip lead.

That chip lead was short lived for Greenwood, however, when Alex Theologis won a three-way all-in to storm to the top of the standings in a single hand. Aleks Ponakovs was one of the losers in that big hand, and that sent him down the inevitable path to exiting in fifth place.

Although Ponakovs hasn’t found the winner’s circle this year, his 14 final tables have put him in eighth place in the POY standings. The Latvian pro now has $23 million in earnings.

The rapidly increasing blinds kept pushing the action as Greenwood busted in fourth place, and Dominykas Mikolaitis followed in third place to set the final match.

Theologis still held the lead when heads-up play began with a nearly 4:1 advantage over Yaroshevskyy, but a quick double up brought things close to even. The final two players then agreed to a chop with the Triton trophy and $29,000 up top left to play for.

There was a bit of back-and-forth play left between them before the last hand of the tournament played out. Theologis was short when he jammed holding 10-6 suited, and Yaroshevskyy had him covered holding A-3 offsuit. The board was overkill, giving the Ukrainian the tournament victory when he made a full house.

The runner-up from Greece has had a consistent run of results during this tournament series with five cashes. The $860,143 Theologis pocketed in this event took his career earnings up to $5.7 million, $2.3 million on which has come in the last week.
