Viewers of the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Commanders game on Sunday saw quite an interesting game with a blocked field goal attempt, two kickoffs returned for touchdowns, and a crazy last-minute touchdown pass. But it was a crucial missed extra point that proved to be very costly for some bettors in the Circa Million handicapping contest in downtown Las Vegas.

Two players, Tom and Todd, were on course to receive a $150,000 quarterly bonus by picking the 7-4 Commanders over the 3-7 Cowboys. Their advancement in the Survivor contest also hinged on Washington coming out on top.

Dallas looked to be in great shape late in the game, winning 27-20. Washington had a slim chance, but was backed up to the team’s own 14 yard line with just 33 seconds remaining. Yet it looked like the Commanders, who had been favored in the matchup by 10.5 points, would at least be sending the game into overtime after quarterback Jayden Daniels connected with wide receiver Terry McLaurin for an 86-yard touchdown pass.

On Tuesday, Circa Sports posted a video of the two contest players as they sweated their pick. The massive play looked to keep their hopes of a six-figure payday alive and they cheered on McLaurin as he made his way to the end zone – complete with high fives all around.

However, hopes of the bonus payouts were dashed when Washington kicker Austin Seibert’s extra point attempt sailed wide. The miss left the Commanders down 27-26 and also left Tom and Todd, as well as numerous others in the Survivor contest, completely crushed.

To add insult to injury, the Cowboys then returned an onside kick attempt for another touchdown and finished off the Commanders 34-26 to break a five-game losing streak.

After week 12, the Survivor sports betting contest saw 45 more players eliminated. The upset-filled season continues with just 54 of 14,266 total entries moving on to Week 13 with the last man standing scoring a winner-take-all prize $14.3 million.
