Cash Game World Championship Week 1 Recap: AbsoluteTopUp Leads, LLinusLL0ve DownWatch Highlights From All The Week 1 Action On CoinPoker |
|
We’re into week two of the CoinPoker Cash Game World Championship and ‘AbsoluteTopUp’ currently tops the leaderboard with over $159,000 profit.
But Swiss pro Linus Loeliger, a player many tipped to win the competition, has suffered some big losses. He was first in the leaderboard for the first couple of days, but now finds himself in the bottom 10 and at a current loss of just over $23,500.
If you haven’t had time to catch any of this nosebleed cash game action, you can check out a two-hour-plus recap on the official CoinPoker YouTube channel (or watch it below). It includes some of the week’s biggest hands with expert commentary from high-stakes regs – including CGWC participant ‘SeaLlama.’
Week 1 CGWC Highlights
A Huge $60,000 Pot
PR0DIGY got involved in a four-bet pot with AbsoluteTopUp for a huge sum. With the pot at $6,150, the flop came KK7. PR0DIGY c-bet quarter pot, and AbsoluteTopUp called.
The turn was 9, opening up a second flush draw. This time, PR0DIGY check-called the half-pot bet, taking it up to $18.4k total.
The river was the dangerous-looking 10, which completed the flush and also opened up some straight possibilities. PR0DIGY checked it over and AbsoluteTopUp wasted no time jamming all in for roughly a pot-sized bet. PR0DIGY called with the nut flush, and was relieved to see just 88 from AbsoluteTopUp – a couple of good blockers, but a super-weak showing once called – and scooped up $59,777.
AbsoluteTopUp – the head coach at Poker With Riske – was also bluffed off of pocket jacks against the ace-high of ‘TDuthweiler’ for five figures, then got looked up by fourth pair as he lost a $20k pot to SeaLlama.
But overall, he’s been on the winning side more often than not. That included a brave call with K10 on a Q10952 board against the missed AK of ‘MattMainrelli’ for a $27.8k pot.
Early Favorite Crumbles
‘LLinusLL0ve,’ who took an early lead in week one, has lost a bunch since. One of those pots was the result of an ill-timed over-jam on the river with pocket sixes, coming up against the pocket kings of ‘riggedeck.’
He’s gone from being over $150,000 up to more than $23,000 down. Conversely, ‘iWasOnly17’ was previously propping up the table at negative $76,000, but is now sitting pretty in fourth with $93,000 profit. In these high-stakes cash games, things can change quickly and dramatically.
‘ChrisNguyen’ currently sits a few places above ‘PetrKnopp,’ but his lead would’ve been much greater without one key misstep. ChrisNguyen was in position with pocket kings, but was outflopped by PetrKnopp’s pocket sixes on the Q62 rainbow flop.
On the river, the pot was around $12,400 when ChrisNguyen had the option to check behind, but instead took the bait and bet $9,300 in what SeaLlama called “tragic” sizing. A little harsh, perhaps. But it did mean that, when his opponent shoved all in, he felt compelled to call – and saw a $54,400 pot slip away.

How to Watch
If you want to watch the CoinPoker CGWC, here’s how to do it:
If you’re new to CoinPoker, you might be confused by the currency symbol, which is for Tether (USDT). Its value is matched by USD, which means that a ₮10,000 pot is essentially worth $10,000.
