Heartland Poker Tour Stop in Iowa Concludes

Donny Carlton Wins More Than $85,000 For First Place

Donny CarltonAt the most recent stop on the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT), 23-year-old Donny Calton took down more than $85,000 for first-place in the Iowa State Poker Championship at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel.

Just over $307,000 was generated for the prize pool from 214 entrants. Carlton is a professional poker player who recently graduated from the University of Iowa. He was cheered on by a group of fellow poker players that had been traveling together for the last three HPT events. Although two of his friends made previous HPT final tables, Carlton was the first of them to snag a title.

There are two more stops left in this season's HPT. The next event is at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, on Nov.10-18. The HPT Championship Open is the grand finale. It is scheduled for Dec. 1-10 at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana. All HPT event winners were given a $3,000 champion package to attend this event. This event is expected to have the first million-dollar prize pool in HPT history.
