While a lot of big tournaments were held this weekend, the two most noteworthy were part of the
Full Tilt Online Poker Series VI (
FTOPS).
The quarterly series had yet another successful run;
Full Tilt guaranteed $9,125,000 in prize pools over the span of the series' 16 events, but entrants actually generated almost $11.2 million in prizes, 123 percent what Full Tilt was willing to ensure. The series' events attracted a combined 27,511 entrants, and the 16 winners took home a combined $2.2 million.
The two biggest contributors to that bottom line were the two-day $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold'em event, which started this Saturday and concluded last night, and, of course, the $500 buy-in no-limit hold'em main event held last night. The two-day event had a huge $1,745,000 prize pool and the main event offered $2,185,000 to entrants.
Read on to find the results of those two events and the major Sunday events on PokerStars, UltimateBet, and Bodog. Scroll to the bottom of the article to find links to the results for every event in the
FTOPS VI.
FTOPS VI No-Limit Hold'em Main Event
The
FTOPS VI main event had 4,371 entrants last night, building a $2,185,500 prize pool. That prize pool was actually a slight step down from the main event of the
FTOPS V in August (won by
CrazyZachary), which had 4,578 entrants and a prize pool of $2,289,000. The winner of last night's event stood to pocket close to $400,000.
Of the last nine players who formed the final table, four of them would earn six-figure paydays.
Kavicarter became the first player to collect a six-digit payout when he finished in fourth, for $120,000. Mendieta19 followed kavicarter out the door in third place, earning almost $153,000. It was then down to
southside1 and
fkscreennames for the top prize. They were each guaranteed at least $233,629, but the $152,000 difference between the first- and second-place prizes meant that neither player was likely to give in easily. Fkscreennames eventually outlasted southside1 and took home $385,937. He also earned both physical and digital gold
FTOPS jerseys for his accomplishment in surviving longer than 4,370 opponents.
The final results were:
- fkscreennames -- $385,937
- Ryan "southside1" Aiken -- $233,629
- mendieta19 -- $152,985
- kavicarter -- $120,202
- eisenhower1 -- $90,261
- 007Paghman -- $66,876
- THEONE213 -- $50,266
- SwingRoll -- $39,339
- HipHopNDontStop -- $29,285
FTOPS VI $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em (Two-Day Event)
A bigger buy-in and a longer tournament meant bigger payouts for the final table of event No. 13 in the
FTOPS VI, the $2,500 two-day no-limit hold'em event. Unlike this quarter's main event, this event had more entrants and a larger prize pool than its counterpart in August's
FTOPS V. The event, which started on Saturday, lured 698 at $2,620 apiece (including $120 registration fee) to generate a prize pool of $1,745,000. August's two-day event had 648 entrants and a prize pool of $1,620,000. Five players were looking at six-figure paydays, here, with the first-place finisher receiving almost $419,000.
Red-named, Full Tilt-sponsored pro
Aaron Bartley was still in contention for the top prize when the final table was formed. He fell just short of snagging one of the six-digit spots when he was eliminated in sixth place, earning $79,000. When it got down to heads-up play, it was
Soren "Kongsgaard" Kongsgaard versus
wuddacooler. Kongsgaard finished as runner-up in the $1 million-guaranteed event on Full Tilt in October of this year ($122,000) and has also made the final table of the PokerStars
Sunday Million (Feb. 25, 2007, fourth place for $71,000). Wuddacooler previously made the final table of the pot-limit Omaha with rebuys event in the
FTOPS V (ninth, for $5,000). Wuddacooler wound up raking in the final pot last night and earned the huge $418,800 payday, the biggest single payout of the
FTOPS VI. He also earned two gold
FTOPS jerseys, one for live play and one for online play.
The final results were:
- wuddacooler -- $418,800
- Soren "Kongsgaard" Kongsgaard -- $261,750
- Don K The Hutt -- $196,312
- heyfreddy -- $148,325
- cobey -- $113,425
- Aaron "Aaron Bartley" Bartley -- $78,525
- Sircall -- $54,095
- amak316 -- $41,880
- jman5j23 -- $31,410
PokerStars Sunday Million
The
PokerStars Sunday Million had 6,637 entrants last night, making for a $1,327,400 prize pool. That amounted to three more entrants than last week, when 6,634 entrants bought in. The
FTOPS events had been bolstering events on PokerStars throughout the week (many of the daily $100 rebuy tournaments, for instance, had prize pools in the $100,000s on days when they normally would not), but it looks like the
FTOPS bug missed the
Sunday Million. Nevertheless, the first-place finisher was looking at a $190,880 prize if the final table went unchopped.
And unchopped it went, as
Blake "Balla-B13" Cahail and
head2842 went at it heads up for the top prize, which left a more than $91,000 difference between first and second place. Balla-B13 took charge and eventually scooped in the final pot of the tournament, earning the full first-place prize.
The final results were:
- Blake "Balla-B13" Cahail -- $190,880
- head2842 -- $99,422
- WeTruck -- $71,547
- yesss -- $55,751
- pat5star -- $42,610
- wNwNw1 -- $30,530
- Tifton TAO -- $21,902
- skg0909 -- $13,274
- G0T T!LT? -- $8,230
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
The
UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 934 entrants last night, down from the 949 entrants of last week. The tournament required a $13,200 overlay to match the posted guarantee. It eventually came down to beatmedown81 and abajotrabajo vying for the $45,000 first-place prize. Abajotrabajo failed to follow the command given by his opponent's screen name, and he wound up taking home second-place prize money of $26,500. Beatmedown81 earned $45,000 for taking down the tournament.
The final results were:
- beatmedown81 -- $45,000
- abajotrabajo -- $26,500
- redweb -- $18,000
- yakisoba -- $13,100
- Chris "BluffMagCV" Vaughn -- $10,500
- Polyphemus_I -- $8,500
- StructureK -- $6,500
- MrCumberdale -- $4,500
- tballer247 -- $3,400
- slatehill4 -- $2,000
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
Seven hundred and sixty-four entrants bought into the
Bodog $100,000-guaranteed event last night, meaning Bodog forked over a $23,600 overlay to get the prize pool to $100,000. That attendance number was down by 26 from last week, when the tournament had 790 entrants. GibinMauler and cambiasso went head-to-head for the biggest payday at the final table. GibinMauler attacked his opponent until he had all of the chips in front of him and $25,000 more in his Bodog account. Cambiasso collected $14,300 for second place.
The final results were:
- GibinMauler -- $25,000
- cambiasso -- $14,300
- I_BET100K -- $9,200
- camp0439 -- $6,900
- Capt Cabernet -- $5,500
