Kevin "Lovejoy" O'Leary yesterday won the inaugural Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Heads-Up Championship, beating Marc "Mr.Cool" Goodwin to win the £20,000 first prize and a seat in the GUKPT main event, which starts today.

The match, which lasted just over two hours, saw Blue Square-sponsored pro O'Leary dominate proceedings after the first 30 minutes. Goodwin busted, collecting the £12,000 second prize, when his Q-10 ran into O'Leary's K-Q, which rivered a flush.

En route to his victory, O'Leary beat hardened pros Surinder Sunar and John Kabbaj.

The £3,000 grand final starts today and is expected to attract up to 400 runners, creating a prize pool likely to be in excess of £1 million.
