Vega Promotional Systems Announces Intentions

A marketing company that also has interests in online poker announced its plans to launch the Latin American Poker Tour.

Vega Promotional Systems of the United Kingdom announced that the first season of LAPT will take place next year. No dates or actual casino locations were included in the release, and repeated attempts to contact VPS failed.

But through the release, the company said the first season will stop in the eight Latin American countries of Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.

The announcement also said that VPS is currently in negotiations with unnamed profession poker players to host the tour, as well as with a "major cable provider" to broadcast the LAPT across Latin America. VPS will produce the programming.

This year, VPS has gotten involved more heavily in the world of online poker. In July, it acquired the rights to software and source code that will allow the company to run the Vega Gaming System. It allows anyone to create and brand skins that would operate on top of the system.

According to its website, "Through a Licensing Agreement, the Company's cutting-edge, proprietary software allows you to build an online presence in one of the fastest growing segments on the Internet, for a fraction of the cost of designing and developing your own site."

It also has a contract to promote Bob "The Butcher" Clarke and his poker website. Clarke is a popular UK player. It appears that Clarke's site is the only one currently in the Vega Gaming System.

VPS also offers software that speeds Internet communications and also takes restaurant reservations online. It also promotes All In energy drink.

VPS is a publicly traded company that trades for pennies. The highest its stock traded for in the past year was $1.50. It traded for lower than a penny today. Through the release, VPS said more information about the LAPT would be coming soon.

This version of the LAPT shouldn't be confused with the "LatinAmetricanPokerTour.com" website, which is registered to the online poker room Chili Poker. The site is merely registered to Chili Poker, as Chili Poker has no immediate plans to make its LAPT a reality.
