|
In this "Strip Poker" series, Card Player covers the Las Vegas poker scene - on The Strip and around the city.
Poker players, mixed-martial-arts fighters, and Hollywood celebrities are coming together Jan. 12, 2008, to raise money to help injured G.I.'s by hosting a charity poker tournament at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas.
The event is called Operation All In, and 2006 World Series of Poker main-event winner Jamie Gold (a player familiar with going all in) and actor Dean Cain (known for playing Superman in Lois and Clark) have both committed to attending the $550 buy-in charity no-limit hold'em tournament. Rebuys for $200 will be available throughout the first hour.
Seating is limited to 150 players who will all compete for a guaranteed prize pool. Everything additional earned from the event will go straight to the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation, which was founded by mixed-martial-arts legend Randy Couture. The goal of the organization is to raise money and awareness for soldiers wounded in action and their families, as well as to help soldiers with anything they might need to return to civilian life. Couture will serve as host of the poker event.
To preregister for the event, call the box office at the Hard Rock Casino at 800-HRD-Rock or the Xtreme Couture MMA at 702-616-1022. Click here for more information.
